Full-Scale Wind Turbine Testing and Validation (5E)
(Room B314 – Turbine Design Track)
Testing of load predictions and structural performance of full-scale wind turbines in their actual conditions is very
uncommon. This session discusses full-scale wind turbine technology, and shares practices and data to improve
knowledge of standardization of wind turbine control, structural, and mechanical designs. Panelists present
validation, testing, and reliability assessments from four independent platforms nationwide, as well as results from
various turbine testing.
Performance, Profitability & Reliability - An Academic Perspective (5F)
(Room B403 – Academic Track)
Now more than ever, efficiency and cost-effectiveness are critical to successful operations. Improving wind turbine
performance, profitability, and reliability can dramatically reduce operational and maintenance costs, and decrease
the overall cost of energy. Panelists in this session present attendees with expert research and supplementary case
studies on state-of-the-art online oil condition monitoring technologies, various vibration control mechanisms, new
accurate and simplistic methods for balancing rotors, and the advantages of installing advanced full-flow filters in
gearboxes.
