ARTICLE 2: TECHNICAL INSPECTION<br />
C2.2 Technical Inspection – Pass/Fail<br />
All <strong>Baja</strong> <strong>SAE</strong> vehicles must pass a technical inspection before they are permitted to operate under power.<br />
C2.2.1 The inspection will determine if the vehicle satisfies the requirements and restrictions of the <strong>Baja</strong> <strong>SAE</strong> rules.<br />
C2.2.2 If vehicles are not ready for technical inspection when they arrive at the inspection site, they will be sent away.<br />
C2.2.3 Any vehicle may be re-inspected at any time during the competition and correction of any non-compliance will be<br />
required.<br />
C2.3 Technical Inspection<br />
Technical inspection will consist of four (4) separate parts as follows:<br />
C2.3.1 Engine inspection and governor setting- Governor Setting Check<br />
Briggs & Stratton Technical Representatives will set the governors of all vehicles. Vehicles must be presented for<br />
governor setting with the engine output shaft bare, the drivetrain disconnected and the throttle cable disconnected from<br />
the engine and working kill switches. Each vehicle engine must be inspected by Briggs and Stratton technical staff that<br />
will:<br />
(1) Confirm its compliance with the rules and<br />
(2) Set the governor to the specified rpm. (3800)<br />
The governor check must be passed before a team may apply for Part 2 or Part 3 inspection.<br />
C2.3.2 Technical Inspection<br />
Each vehicle will be inspected to determine if it complies with the requirements and restrictions of the <strong>Baja</strong> <strong>SAE</strong> rules.<br />
This inspection will include an examination of the driver’s equipment including helmet and arm restraints, a test of<br />
driver exit time and to ensure that all drivers meet the requirements of the rules. Each team must bring the following<br />
items to inspection.<br />
