dear colleague,<br />

The <strong>Euro</strong> <strong>Fed</strong> <strong>Lipid</strong> Congress series provides important opportunities<br />

for the fats and oils community from all over the world,<br />

enabling them to discuss every <strong>as</strong>pect <strong>of</strong> lipids during high-quality<br />

lecture programmes and networking with pr<strong>of</strong>essionals from academia<br />

and industry. The title <strong>of</strong> the 11th <strong>Euro</strong> <strong>Fed</strong> <strong>Lipid</strong> Congress<br />

is: “Oils, Fats and <strong>Lipid</strong>s: New Strategies for a High Quality Future”.<br />

Fats and oils have arguably the highest impact on human health<br />

among all nutrients. The meeting will therefore provide discussion<br />

opportunities on the existing lipid related problems to ensure improved<br />

food safety in the future.<br />

The scientific committee h<strong>as</strong> prepared a unique lecture programme<br />

comprising <strong>of</strong> all <strong>as</strong>pect <strong>of</strong> lipids. The participants will<br />

also have the chance to attend high quality ISF lectures delivered<br />

by renowned scientists on fats and oils.<br />

The social programme, reflecting the different sides <strong>of</strong> the Turkish<br />

culture and the city <strong>of</strong> Antalya, will provide an unforgettable time<br />

for the guests.<br />

In the Atrium Lobby with 180 meters length and 40 meters width,<br />

LED lightening and flowing text system.<br />

area <strong>of</strong> 1172 m 2 , two foyers: one <strong>of</strong> them is the upper foyer and<br />

In the museum numerous exhibits illustrate the historical development<br />

and the history <strong>of</strong> this region from Palaeolithic to modern<br />

times. The archaeological department contains a large collection<br />

<strong>of</strong> historical pieces <strong>of</strong> the Pamphylian and Lycian region. Notably<br />

the corpus <strong>of</strong> finds from the Roman and Hellenistic epoch, e.g.<br />

sarcophagi, statues <strong>of</strong> gods (amongst others from Perga), mosaic,<br />

<strong>as</strong> well <strong>as</strong> an impressive collection <strong>of</strong> coins, belong to the exhibition.<br />

Suna Inan Kiraç Kaleiçi Museum<br />

The Suna Inan Kiraç Kaleiçi Museum is situated in the old town <strong>of</strong><br />

Antalya. The life <strong>of</strong> the inhabitants <strong>of</strong> Kaleiçi will be painted in an<br />

extensively restored old Ottoman dwelling house. Also a Greekorthodox<br />

church belonging to the museum w<strong>as</strong> restored in 1863<br />

and is used <strong>as</strong> an exhibition room for diverse art collections.<br />

<strong>as</strong>pendos, perge and Kursunlu Waterfalls<br />

Aspendos or Aspendus w<strong>as</strong> an ancient Greco-Roman city northe<strong>as</strong>t<br />

<strong>of</strong> Antalya. It is known for having the best-preserved theater<br />

<strong>of</strong> antiquity. With a diameter <strong>of</strong> 96 meters, the theater provided<br />

seating for 7,000. The theater w<strong>as</strong> built in 155 by the Greek architect<br />

Zenon, a native <strong>of</strong> the city, during the rule <strong>of</strong> Marcus Aurelius.<br />

It w<strong>as</strong> periodically repaired by the Seljuks, who used it <strong>as</strong> a caravansary,<br />

and in the <strong>13</strong>th century the stage building w<strong>as</strong> converted<br />

into a palace by the Seljuqs <strong>of</strong> Rum. The Aspendos on occ<strong>as</strong>ion<br />

features open air performances during the warmer months.<br />

Marvel at the perfect acoustic and the architecture <strong>of</strong> the Aspendos<br />

theatre.<br />

Perga (Perge) w<strong>as</strong> also an ancient Greek city in Anatolia and the<br />

capital <strong>of</strong> Pamphylia. Today it is a large site <strong>of</strong> ancient ruins 15<br />

kilometres e<strong>as</strong>t <strong>of</strong> Antalya on the co<strong>as</strong>tal plain. An acropolis dating<br />

back to the Bronze Age can be seen loacted there. During the<br />

Hellenistic period, Perga w<strong>as</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the richest and most beautiful<br />

cities in the ancient world, famous for its temple <strong>of</strong> Artemis. It is<br />

also notable for being the home <strong>of</strong> the renowned ancient Greek<br />

mathematician Apollonius <strong>of</strong> Perga. Perga is an archaeological<br />

garden which is a must see for everyone interested in cultures.<br />

Antalya airport is located 10 km away from the congress center.<br />

Mainly served by charter carriers during the summer, there are<br />

however also regular flight connections.<br />

Airlines that serve Antalya include: Atl<strong>as</strong>Jet (domestic flights), Sun-<br />

Express (dozens <strong>of</strong> flights from all over <strong>Euro</strong>pe), Turkish Airlines<br />

(plenty <strong>of</strong> flights from Ankara and Istanbul-Atatürk), Aer<strong>of</strong>lot (daily<br />

flights from Moscow-Sheremetyevo), Ukraine International Airlines<br />

The Turkish bus system is comprehensive and you can get just<br />

Cancellations received on or before 03 September 20<strong>13</strong> will incur<br />

a 50 € cancellation processing fee. After 03 September the cancellation<br />

fee is 100 €. There will be no refunds for cancellations<br />

received after 12 October 20<strong>13</strong> or for No-Shows.<br />

Substitute participants can be named anytime without additional<br />

costs.<br />

If the congress is cancelled for whatever re<strong>as</strong>on, paid fees<br />

will be refunded. Further recourse is excluded.<br />
