Edelman Brussels increased its political expertise by adding former Portuguese Foreign<br />
Minister António Martins da Cruz as a senior Strategic Advisor to the global communications<br />
firm’s Public Affairs network. Martins da Cruz will serve as a Senior Counsellor to Edelman’s<br />
multinational clients which include major trade associations, international corporations<br />
and foreign governments. He has a long experienced career working in and around<br />
politics starting in 1971 at the Portuguese Foreign Service. There here he held various diplomatic<br />
postings in places such as Mozambique and Cairo.<br />
Maria Teresa Scardigli has been promoted from Senior Manager to Vice President of Kellen Eu-<br />
rope in Brussels. Mrs Scardigli has over ten years experience in association management with<br />
particular expertise in governance, strategic planning and government affairs. Mrs. Scardigli<br />
joined Kellen Europe in 2000 and acts as Executive Director for a number of <strong>European</strong> and<br />
global associations. She is also Sales Coordinator of Kellen Europe and is constantly involved<br />
in strategic advice projects with clients.<br />
Linklaters appoints Counsel<br />
Linklaters has appointed Kerstin Fried as Counsel in its competition/antitrust practice in<br />
Brussels, as part of the firm’s annual promotions. Kerstin, currently a Managing Associate<br />
in Linklaters’ Brussels office, has significant experience in EC and German competition law<br />
and is a well-respected expert in state aid. Kerstin joined Linklaters in 2001 and has recently<br />
worked on advising a German bank in Phase II proceedings in relation to the German credit<br />
crunch rescue packages, representing DHL in the Phase II state aid proceedings regarding the<br />
transfer of its central <strong>European</strong> hub from Brussels to Leipzig and advising Hyundai and Kia on<br />
their large scale investment projects in Eastern Europe.
