B. Continuing Witness Training or CWT (HMB/NAMB)—Initiative <strong>Evangelism</strong><br />

History: 1165<br />

1969-1972, under Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Evangelism</strong>, Kenneth Chafin, personal evangelism became the<br />

new method <strong>of</strong> Southern Baptist evangelism; expanding from C. E. Autrey’s Cultivative<br />

Commitment Witnessing program, Chafin introduced the WIN—Witness Involvement Now<br />

program and the LES—Lay <strong>Evangelism</strong> School.<br />

1973-1982, C. B. Hogue developed three programs for personal evangelism: WOW—Win Our<br />

World, TELL—Training for Lifestyle and Leadership, and CWT—Continuous Witness<br />

Training. The Latter, CWT, won the field and became the backbone <strong>of</strong> Southern Baptist<br />

personal evangelism until 1997.<br />

1989-1997, Darrell Robinson also championed CWT during his tenure at the HMB. However, it<br />

was discontinued in 1997.<br />

The CWT approach was quite similar in many respects to <strong>Evangelism</strong> Explosion. The message<br />

portion <strong>of</strong> CWT was changed to become less like EE and more like the Roman Road<br />

approach to the Gospel.<br />
