The program is offered in an online environment, which may be entered at the beginning of any quarter and requires an average of 35-40 hours of study time per week. The program focuses on providing the training required for students to sit for a certification test with either AHIMA or AAPC. An educational certificate is awarded upon successful completion of this 37-credit program. Only Medical Coding students should enroll in MC classes. Medical transcriPtion The Medical Transcription Editor Certificate Program is offered through the Health Sciences and Public Safety Division. Students transcribe and edit medical dictation of increasing difficulty while learning shortcuts to increase productivity. Completion of this program prepares the student to enter the work force as an entry-level medical transcriptionist/editor. A one-year certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the program.
