THE DANCING TREES
Edward Foy, Senior
igh school students in Ms. Mertz-
Witczak’s Drawing and Painting
class learned how to describe design
concepts in works of art which encouraged
them to examine how feelings,
moods, and ideas are communicated
through art. One technique was learning
how to play with monochromatic
colors on the color wheel and to include
neutral colors (black and white) as part
of their drawings. They were instructed
to pick a color of their choice on the
color wheel and then add white to make
a tint or black to create shades. The
results of their acrylic paintings were
impressive, and all had a calm, soothing
effect. Here are some examples of
their work.
