<strong>NINA</strong> Report 635<br />

We <strong>the</strong>n proceed to compare <strong>the</strong> location 7 sample from <strong>the</strong> wet season (1998) with <strong>the</strong> pooled<br />

dry season samples (1999 <strong>and</strong> 2001). Figure 7 <strong>in</strong>dicates that we observe fewer parasite taxa<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> wet season than what we should expect if <strong>the</strong>re were no difference <strong>in</strong> parasite fauna between<br />

seasons (p=0.008).<br />

Figure 7 Simulated distributions <strong>of</strong> number <strong>of</strong> parasite taxa at location 7, for <strong>the</strong> wet season<br />

(top panel), <strong>the</strong> dry seasons (middle panel), <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> null distribution for <strong>the</strong> expected difference<br />

<strong>in</strong> number <strong>of</strong> parasite taxa between <strong>the</strong> two seasons (lower panel). The red diamond at <strong>the</strong><br />

basel<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong> all histograms shows <strong>the</strong> values observed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al data set <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> blue vertical<br />
