equivalent units<br />

Due to the extent of syllabus overlap,<br />

certa<strong>in</strong> comb<strong>in</strong>ations of units will result<br />

<strong>in</strong> only one award of credits. Where two<br />

comparable units are held, the higher of the<br />

two credit figures will be added to your CII<br />

Learn<strong>in</strong>g Account.<br />

However, should you wish, you may still<br />

choose to sit an ‘overlapp<strong>in</strong>g’ unit <strong>in</strong> order<br />

to enhance your knowledge. Units affected<br />

are shown opposite.<br />

The mechanics of study<strong>in</strong>g<br />

The exams are based on the published<br />

syllabuses, which are <strong>in</strong> themselves important<br />

aids to exam preparation and revision. It is<br />

essential that you familiarise yourself with<br />

these before commenc<strong>in</strong>g study.<br />

These set out the learn<strong>in</strong>g outcomes expected<br />

of candidates <strong>in</strong> the exam for each unit.<br />

The syllabuses also identify published<br />

material designed to assist you <strong>in</strong> prepar<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for exams under the follow<strong>in</strong>g head<strong>in</strong>gs:<br />

primary text, additional read<strong>in</strong>g, reference<br />

works and periodicals.<br />
