Rita Cutie Jordan
801 Maple Street
Scranton, PA 18505-1985
I have written or called our 1947 alumni requesting
news to share in our Class Notes, but the response
has been very limited. In order to keep the class
notes active, please contact me at the above address
or phone number to communicate your news.
Marjorie Bates Hamlin ’47, Farmville, Va., is still
working and doing well with the dog grooming
business. She also continues to help her daughter
with raising show horses which are entered in
national shows.
Marty Salamida ’47, Scranton, Pa., is now a
permanent resident at Mountain View Care Center.
His wife, Mary, called me to share with his Keystone
College friends that he is doing well. Marty and
Mary were also regulars at Chef’s Table dinners and
Homecoming Reunions. Sending our best wishes to
you Marty!
Bill Weibel ’47, E. Arlington, Vt., phoned to report
he had a cataract removed recently and an implant
inserted. The surgery was a success except that he
still has double-vision. He does hope new
prescription glasses will correct the problem.
Ann Wullert ’47, Scranton, Pa., retired and is a
regular at our Chef’s Table dinners and
Homecoming Reunions each year. She continues to
do volunteer work with her church and various
organizations. Ann enjoys her hobby of polka
dancing.
Here is an update on my extended family, three
children, Rita Marie, Billy and Colleen, 10
granddaughters, two grandsons, four great-grandsons,
and we will have a new addition arriving
February 2011. I want to say “thanks a million”
to the 1947 alumni that took the time to write or
phone me. Also, a special thank you to Patricia
Bloom ’46 for writing to me. It was great to hear
from you. Enjoy your travels.
Franklin Dentz ’48 reports he graduated in 1948
and many of the students were World War II vets as
was Professor Trapani. He remembers Professor
Trapani was a colonel in the 28th Infantry Division
and was in the Battle of the Bulge where Franklin
also fought in Belgium in 1944/1945. Some of the
vets and professors all bowled together in Clarks
Summit, Pa. After Keystone, Franklin went to
Columbia University and graduated in 1950 with a
bachelor of science in civil engineering. Following
a successful career, he retired in 1986 and currently
have two daughters and five grandchildren. He
to start a college education after returning from the
war.
