Messages<br />

• Homework will be given out on Friday and expected in no later than Wednesday.<br />

• School uniform reminder – No trainers are allowed in school. Must be school shoes..<br />

• We would like parents to sign their child’s home/school communication book each<br />

week to indicate that you have read the weekly comment written by the teacher.<br />

• Please remember to send your child to school with their PE kit on their PE days.<br />

Children must wear the white PE t-shirt and black PE shorts that can be purchased<br />

from the uniform shop. Students must also bring a change of socks and sports<br />

shoes. Students must not wear jewelry during PE lessons; this is to ensure the<br />

safety of your child and their peers. On swimming days children must bring an<br />

appropriate swimming suit, short trunks for boys and a one piece swimsuit for girls.<br />

Students need a towel, swimming hat and they may bring goggles if they wish.<br />

Please note that all children are required to bring a swimming hat. This is to help to<br />

keep the swimming pool clean.<br />

• The Global Classroom offers an opportunity for your child to develop their learning<br />

beyond the classroom environment. It provides a number of creative opportunities<br />

for children including; critically thinking about real life issues; become involved in<br />

discussions with children around the globe; debating; creative story writing;<br />

philosophy and more. It is updated regularly and is monitored for quality<br />

contributions. It is a safe environment where children are encouraged to maintain<br />

web etiquette and is developed to assist your child in "high performance" learning.<br />

• No school for children on Thuirsday15th and Friday 16 th due to staff training.<br />

Literacy<br />

In Literacy we will be completing a set of assessments to help inform our judgements on<br />

pupil progress.<br />

Numeracy<br />

In Numeracy we will also be completing a set of assessments to help inform our judgements<br />

on pupil progress.<br />

Humanities<br />

In Humanities we will plan for a speaking and listening assessment for the following week.<br />

Science<br />

In Science we will begin to revisit and revise for the end of term assessment which is due the<br />

following week.<br />

Art<br />

In Art we will be sketching Buddha’s developing our skills of drawing still life and shading.<br />

Mandarin Y5 L1<br />

This week we will be learning topic of personal information. Key sentences are “我(wǒ)…岁<br />

(I’m….years old), “我(wǒ)上(shàng)…年(nián)级(jí)”(I am in …..year). Key<br />

words are: 岁(suì),了(le),上(shàng),年(nián),级(jí).<br />

Mandarin Y5 L2<br />

After finishing off with the topic of Making a Phone Call, Season and Weather will be<br />

introduced. Pupils will be encouraged to say what the weather is like during the four seasons.


Mandarin Y5 L3A<br />

This week we will finish Lesson 4 and begin a new topic of Housework. We will introduce the<br />

new words and sentence patterns based on the prior knowledge. We will encourage the<br />

pupils to play out the dialogue.<br />

Mandarin Y5 L3AA<br />

This week we'll continue with the topic "Olympic Games". Pupils will practise the sentence<br />

patterns and characters we have learnt.<br />

Mandarin Y5 MNN 学习课文《威尼斯的小艇》,学习课文中的汉字和词语。积累词语课文中的四字词语,能联系<br />

上下文用自己的话说说这些四字词语的意思。<br />

Dutch<br />

We hebben antwoord van Rian Visser, de auteur die onze reisverhalen heeft beoordeeld. Ze<br />

is onder de indruk van het schrijftalent van de leerlingen van SDS en heeft met veel plezier<br />

de verhalen gelezen. Er waren ontzettend veel inzendingen vanuit heel Nederland en helaas<br />

is SDS niet in de prijzen gevallen. Wel heeft iedereen een heus schrijfdiploma gewonnen!<br />

We doen binnenkort weer mee met een schrijfwedstrijd. Het moet gaan over een geheim.<br />

Laat die hersens maar vast draaien...
