RE: International Week – Primary School Food Fair
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Monday 21 st November, we will officially begin our annual International Week. You
will see via our Classnews that we will be incorporating International Week into all
aspects of our curriculum learning. Big thanks to Miss Reece and her committee for
organising these fun and interesting activities that all our children can get involved in
throughout the week.
Of course, one of our main highlights is the International Food Fair that will take place
over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Many of you will have received
numerous emails from your room parents and/or country coordinators who have been
working together to organise this event. Another thank you must go out to all the
parents who have volunteered to get involved either by coordinating events or by
donating a dish.
We have had some additional country coordinators join the team in the last day or so, so
please refer to the information below. If you would like to donate a dish to the Food Fair,
you can contact your country coordinator directly. Even if your country is not
represented, you are still more than welcome to come and participate in the Food Fair.
You can either donate a dish, which you can send in with your child, or alternatively you
can bring your dish and come and join us at the Food Fair itself on whichever day you
would like. You will find further information about the actual logistics of the event,
including times, venues etc., below. Please do not hesitate to contact your room parent,
your country coordinator or myself for any additional clarification.

Whilst not every country is represented above, we also have donations of food coming
from Mexico, Denmark, Sweden and Norway to name just a few more countries.

• Y1, Y3, Y5 Food Fair will take place in the Primary Theatre on Tuesday
22 nd November from 12.00pm to 1.40pm
• EYFS Food Fair will take place in the EYFS Dining Hall on Wednesday
23 rd November from 11.30 to 1.30pm
• Y2, Y4, Y6 Food Fair will take place in the Primary Theatre on Thursday
24 th November from 12.00pm to 1.40pm
• We will start setting up the venues 45 mins to an hour before the events start (11am
on Tuesday and Thursday; 10.45am on Wednesday)
• The school will provide tables, chairs, extension leads for power (if needed), plates,
cutlery, cups, napkins
• Food can be brought in during morning drop-off and placed in the Primary
Boardroom if you are unable to attend the Food Fair itself
• All food should have its ingredients labelled for allergy purposes
• Containers should be labelled with pupil name and class so they can be returned
home
• Leftover food will automatically be kept at school for the next day’s Food Fair unless
Lisa Milanec is otherwise notified
• All parents can contribute food even if there is no Country Coordinator for your
country – simply label the dish with your country and it will be appropriately
placed. Do let us know that you plan to participate by sending an email to Lisa
Milanec, so we make sure there is a place at the table.
• Approximate number of pupils on each day: Tuesday 250; Wednesday 150; Thursday
250 (you do not need to cater for these numbers – don’t worry!)
• All pupils who usually have a school meal will be provided with a packed lunch on
the day of their Food Fair that they can eat afterwards, if they are still hungry. If you
do not wish for your child to have a packed lunch please email Lisa Milanec, with
your child’s name and class

Whilst organising this event it has become evident that there are still many of our
parents who have not yet passed on their contact information to their child’s room
parent and may have missed out on important messages during this term. We strongly
encourage you to give these details to the class room parent as they can provide you with
information specific to your child’s class such as trips, parties and, as has been the case in
the past, unplanned school closures. Our room parents provide a crucial link between
home and school and really help us to convey information.
If you have not provided your information to your class room parents, please feel free to
contact either your child’s class teacher, who can put you in touch with the room parent,
or alternatively, Linda Tasker lindamultitasker@gmail.com who is our room parent
coordinator.
Don’t forget we will celebrate the end of International Week with a fantastic parade on
the front playground (weather permitting), in which we all get to wear national dress –
parents too! The parade will begin at 9am.
