Our Common Areas
Al Roten, Roving Reporter
Beginning in mid-February you may
have seen a phenomenon
developing around trees in
grassy areas of our many
landscaped common areas. At

appeared, then the grass died,
then was cut out and bark
appeared. Why was this happening?
Chris O’Keefe, Senior Director of Facilities
provided this logical explanation:
Our arborist recently completed a
detailed tree management plan. One of
the recommendations was to install mulch
rings around trees planted in turf areas to
accomplish the following:
• Reduce the potential for damage from
landscape equipment;
• Help retain moisture and cool tree
roots;
• Move nutrients from the mulch into
the tree root zone.
Please see "Changing Rings" on page 10
in your “Shopping Cart” and pay for everything
in a single transaction. “Wishlist” is a
feature that allows you to save a registration
for the future. For example, if you are
reviewing new events on the 15 th and they
don’t go on sale until the 17 th ,
no problem, just add them to
your Wishlist and register after
8:00 AM on the 17 th
Other added conveniences
of the website include “My
Account,” which has tools like
“My History” and “Reprint A Receipt,”
which show all purchases you have made
through the Activities/Fitness Desks or
from this new sales system. “Evaluations”
enables you to submit a confidential
review of a class to the staff coordinator,
upon completion of the class.
We welcome you to attend one of three
live review sessions for online registration
which will be held at Presentation Hall (KS):
Monday, March 18, 1:00-2:00 PM;
Monday, March 25, 6:30-7:30 PM; and
Wednesday, March 27, 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
