summer 2012 poliCies & proCedures
Attendance for Individual Instruction - During the summer, the schedule for individual instruction of faculty members
may differ. Faculty may teach between 4 and 8 weeks. It is preferable that students study with faculty for as many weeks
as the faculty member is available. However, during the summer, students may register for fewer lessons if the faculty
member agrees:
1. Students must speak with the Registrar regarding individual lessons registration; and
2. Faculty must approve irregular schedules.
Payment Policy for CMSS Students - There is a $10 individual and $20 family registration fee for all enrolled summer
session group classes and individual lessons. Senior citizens only pay $5 for summer session.
Summer Session Tuition:
• Registration and tuition for all (4) July lessons $118 is due on or before June 15th 2012.
• Registration and tuition for all (4) August lessons $118 is due on or before July 16th 2012.
• Due to the short length of summer session there are no refunds, withdrawals or exchanges.
There is no financial aid available for summer study.
• Cash, check, money orders, Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit/debit cards are accepted
STUDENT ABSENCES - Call 413-732-8428 to report student absence as a courtesy to your instructor. Absence does not
exempt the student from payment as contracted. Teachers are not obliged to give make-up lessons for student absences,
but may do so at their own discretion. In case of serious illness or injury, please contact the Registrar.
FACULTY ABSENCES - A teacher’s absence requires that the lesson be made up at a mutually convenient time before the
end of the summer session. In a rare case in which the instructor cannot make up a missed lesson due to his or her own
absence, the account will be credited after the end of the summer session.
SEMI PRIVATE INSTRUCTION - Semi-private lesson length will be based on the total number of students enrolled. Two
students must attend at least a 45 minute lesson and 3 students must attend a 60 minute lesson. Tuition for semi-private
instruction is $88 dollars per four week session.
during the rental period. If the instrument is not returned and /or renewed at the end of the summer session,
students may be responsible for the entire cost of the instrument.
PARKING - Parking is available for CMSS students and visitors in the CMSS parking lot. All vehicles parked in the CMSS
