As revealed in the introductory text… even in the smallest corners of the earth where pigeons are
raced the name Jos Thoné is not only known … it is even a ‘concept’… the name ‘Thoné’ can be
written, spelt and pronounced perfectly all over the world because his pigeons have gained name
and fame. His performances and the ins and outs of the Jos Thoné colony are closely followed.
The announcement of his imminent auction was ‘hot news’ straight away and immediately a tidal
wave of thank-you letters came flooding in with performances, victories and titles, won through
and with descendants of the Jos Thoné pigeons. People who are overjoyed because since the
introduction of the pigeons from Niel-bij-As they have seen their performance curve shoot up have
travelled roads littered with success thanks to those Thoné pigeons! Admittedly one thank you
letter is more impressive than the other depending on where one lays their ‘standards’… how high
he sets his own standards! Nevertheless, the pile of references lying here is colossal enough to fill
