There are no Federal-owned open space or recreation facilities in <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Township</strong>. The closest federally<br />

owned lands to <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> is the Fort Dix Military Reservation, to the northeast.<br />

There are no State-owned open space or recreation facilities in <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Township</strong>. Edith Wharton State<br />

Forest is the closest State owned <strong>for</strong>est to <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong>. With limited gaps, the River to Bay Greenway proposes<br />

a linkage from <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> to Wharton.<br />

Camden Camden County<br />

The Camden County Parks Department owns 17 parcels of open space and recreation facilities in <strong>Cherry</strong> <strong>Hill</strong><br />

<strong>Township</strong> along the Cooper River. These parcels are part of the Camden Greenway initiative that seeks to link<br />

Camden County with Downtown Philadelphia through a series of multi-use trails. Camden County recently<br />

received (February, 2010) $5.8 million dollars to improve the connection from Cooper River Park, through<br />

Camden, to the Ben Franklin Bridge and into Downtown Philadelphia.<br />

The parcels are divided into five different parks: two unnamed parks, and the following:<br />

1. Challenge Grove Park – located on Bortons Mills Road, this park contains the following recreation<br />

facilities:<br />

• One (1) softball field<br />

• One (1) basketball court<br />

• Fitness Equipment<br />

• Two (2) playgrounds<br />

• One (1) quarter-mile mile running track<br />

• A half-mile of walking trails<br />

2. Maria Barnaby Greenwald Memorial Park –<br />

located along Park Boulevard, this park contains<br />

the following recreation facilities:<br />

• One (1) softball field<br />

• One (1) general use field<br />

• Four (4) volleyball courts<br />

• Three (3) miles of walking trails/bike paths<br />

3. Cooper River Park – located on North Park Drive starting at the Pennsauken Border this park contains<br />

the following recreation facilities:<br />

• Three (3) baseball fields<br />

• 1.5 miles of walking trails/bike paths<br />
