<strong>The</strong> Electrical Engineering Department at the <strong>Petroleum</strong> In-<br />
stitute is students centered with a program that is designed<br />
to give students a rigorous education in the fundamentals<br />
of the electric power, science, mechanics of instrumentation<br />
and control theory and specific training in applications of<br />
these concepts in the oil and gas industries and the broader<br />
energy industry. <strong>The</strong> program features a summer intern-<br />
ship in industry where students gain significant exposure<br />
to industry and real-world electrical engineering issues<br />
that, complements their educational experience.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Electrical Engineering Department at the <strong>Petroleum</strong><br />
<strong>Institute</strong> offers the Bachelor of Science, the Master of Sci-<br />
ence, and the Master of Engineering Degrees in Electrical<br />
Engineering.<br />
<strong>The</strong> discipline of instrumentation, automation, and con-<br />
trols engineering is a blend of electrical engineering and<br />
control theory. <strong>The</strong> program couples basic studies in en-<br />
gineering science with fundamental studies in the areas<br />
of instrumentation, automation, and control engineering.<br />
Students take courses that include circuit analysis, micro-<br />
processors, digital control and industrial automation.<br />
<strong>The</strong> discipline of power engineering is a blend of electrical<br />
engineering power generation, transmission, and distribu-<br />
tion theory and applications. Students take courses that in-<br />
clude electric power systems, electric machines, and power<br />
electronic devices and circuits.<br />
