★ Newsweek’s 2010 Challenge Index ranked all <strong>Frederick</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong> public high schools in the nation’s top 6% in<br />
encouraging students to take Advanced Placement (AP)<br />
or International Baccalaureate tests.<br />
★ On SAT college-entrance exams, FCPS students consistently<br />
outperform their peers state- and nationwide.<br />
★ At 1.65%, the FCPS dropout rate is among Maryland’s<br />
lowest.<br />
★ Our schools average 1 computer for every 3<br />
students, and every school is Internet-connected. All<br />
teachers have e-mail and voice mail.<br />
★ 99% of nearly 900 employers surveyed said FCPS<br />
students were well prepared for the work expected of<br />
them at their place of business.<br />
★ Serving pre-kindergarten through grade 12, FCPS has<br />
59 traditional and 5 specialized schools.<br />
★ This year, the state and county committed about $5.9<br />
million for new schools, renovations and additions,<br />
