City of London
Business Traineeship Programme
Other ways to help…
If you represent a City business which is not able to offer a Traineeship
this year, there are several other ways in which you can help local
young people to raise their aspirations and improve their prospects.
Host a City Careers Open House workshop
The City of London Corporation funds City Careers Open
House, which offers groups from City fringe schools the
opportunity to visit City businesses. Students find about
the City and its opportunities, meet staff from the host
company, tour the workplace and participate in
exercises and games to help them to understand the
skills needed to work in the City. The groups range in size
Recruit from local communities
Fringe Benefits is the City of London’s free recruitment
service which matches up talented local candidates to
entry level employment opportunities in the City.
Candidates often come from disadvantaged
backgrounds, and the focus is on social mobility
and widening access to employment opportunities in
City-type businesses within the Square Mile. Fringe
Benefits also supports participating firms to host interns
and get involved with aspiration-raising workshops
on routes into different financial related sectors.
