Eine Zusammenfassung des Vortrags finden Sie auf der Rückseite

Software in the Aerospace and Defence Industry
Eurocopter is the leading manufacture of helicopters in the civil market and also emerging as a major
player in the para-public and military area. Eurocopter is a multi-national subsidiary within the EADS
group. The German software development and research branch of Eurocopter is situated at Ottobrunn,
working, e.g. on the NH90 project, the new transport helicopter for NATO member states.
The importance of software is becoming more and more important in aeronautics and astronautics.
Many Products could not be realized without software components: fly-by-wire and fly-by-light are
unthinkable without dominant software components. Features realizable by this so-called avionics
software are also becoming a decisive sales argument. On the other hand, this software is constrained
and governed by quiet special requirements, like safety, maintainability over a long life time, etc.
This talk gives an overview about the avionics business and presents details of the development
process for real-time software in this area.
CV Thesing:
Stephan Thesing, born in 1970, completed the diploma degree program in computer science and
physics at the Bielefeld University from 1990 to 1996. In his master's thesis he investigated the efficient
implementation of functional-logic programming languages.
During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Thesing received a student scholarship from the Professor-
Rhein-Stiftung. From 1996 until 1999 he received a fellowship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
(DFG).
In 1998, Mr. Thesing was one of the co-founders of the company AbsInt. Since 1999, he has been a
research associate at the Department for Compiler Construction and Programming Languages at the
Saarland University.
In 2004, Mr. Thesing completed his doctorate, his dissertation being entitled "Safe and Precise Worst-
Case Execution Time Prediction by Abstract Interpretation of Pipeline Models".
After his doctorate he worked in the automotive and avionics industry.
Currently he is working at Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH in the NH90 Software department as the
head of the Software and Architecture Team.
CV Krautlager:
Johann Krautlager, born in 1966, completed his diploma in electrical engineering in the field of data
processing and communication technology at the Technical University in Munich in 1994. In his
master's thesis he investigated in the preprocessing of the handwriting recognition.
After working in the telecommunication area, he started working in the defense and aerospace
industry.
From 1995 to 2000 in the software development of missiles at LFK (Lenkflugkörpersysteme GmbH),
since 1999 project responsible for the fire control computer. Until 2008 as software architect in the
Debis Systemhaus later T-Systems, technical consulting for different customers in the aerospace and
defense industry, there for one year in France for technical project management in a helicopter project.
