NEW YORK CITY CHAPTER OCTOBER 2006
Bret Plymire – A Man of Influence
CHAPTER LUNCHEON: Wednesday, October 25th, The Cornell Club
Bret Plymire
VP, Global Financial
Services,, Dell Inc.
Bret Plymire is the Vice President of Dell Inc.’s Global Financial Services. Join us
for this noted speaker at our lunch meeting on Wednesday, October 25th at the
Cornell Club at 6 East 44th Street. Bret is responsible for strategy and operational
oversight of financial services at Dell.
Mr. Plymire also provides global leadership to all regional financial services teams,
leading global centralization opportunities and standardization of best in class processing.
He is responsible for: credit, cash, order processing, accounts receivables,
and fraud [including, coincidently, an experience with our newsletter editor]. With
sales in over 180 countries, and owned operations in over 35, his expertise is in
effectively managing and driving global financial services.
Mr. Plymire joined Dell in 1999 as director of financial services for one domestic
operation. Prior to joining Dell, he was a vice president at General Electric’s GE
Capital division, where his responsibilities included commercial and consumer
remittance processing. Previously he was responsible for both mutual fund and
brokerage remittance processing at Fidelity Investments, following a position in
card operations at American Express.
Cyber, Network and Privacy Risk – What is yours?
AND HOW LIABLE IS YOUR BUSINESS TO IDENTITY THEFT?
PD Session: Wednesday, October 25th, The Cornell Club
Bob Parisi
SVP Cyber/Network Risk
Practice, Marsh, Inc.
Since last year, when a large credit information company unknowingly released
personal information on 145,000 individuals to ID thieves, there have been over
100 more serious data breaches involving personal information and identity theft.
Laws pertaining to this liability continue to evolve. Businesses remain uncertain
about their potential liability. Risk professionals and insurance markets are working
to identify perils and fill coverage gaps - from IT security breaches, lost hard
drives, and the release of information under false pretenses, to fines and penalties,
regulatory defense and notification costs.
Our October 25 event will discuss: Network and Privacy exposures. What is covered
under cyber/network insurance policies? Limits of coverage and available capacity.
Do cyber and privacy policies provide sufficient protection against new risks? How
can companies best assess their issues? Bob Parisi, SVP of the Cyber/Network
Risk Practice at Marsh, will address these critical issues.
2 CPE credits. From 9 to 11 AM on October 25th (before our lunch meeting), at
The Cornell Club at 6 East 44th Street off Fifth Avenue.
Financial Executives International | New York City Chapter
Dear FEI Colleagues:
I recently attended the North Atlantic Leadership meeting and met
with other chapter leaders to discuss ways to make FEI membership
more valuable to our members.
During our conversations I was struck by how strong the NYC chapter
Sponsorship program is. Chapters across the nation vary greatly in the
number of sponsors they have and the support they provide. I am
pleased to report our chapter ranks among the highest in number of
sponsors and the support they provide. Over the years the program
has grown and become an invaluable part of our chapter. The efforts
of Bob Strasser can not be overlooked in bringing these wonderful
organizations to us. Bob, thank you - we could not have done it without you.
We currently have 10 sponsors. American Express, Deloitte & Touche, Hudson Financial
Solutions, Marsh, Rothstein Kass and The Siegfried Group have returned. These veteran
sponsors join our new sponsors, Amper, Politzner & Mattia, Becker Gearty CPE, Grant
Thornton and Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin. Welcome to our new sponsors and thank
you all for your support.
In addition to financial support, the sponsors work with us throughout the year on
different initiatives. They provide seminars, PD sessions and timely information to our
members. Providing expert guidance and analysis on current topics is a much valued
benefit to FEI membership. On October 25th Marsh will be hosting a PD session on Cyber,
Network and Privacy Risk, areas of concern to all financial executives. The annual year-end
financial reporting update by Deloitte & Touche is always one of our best attended events,
covering the newest subject matter.
Seminars and workshops are offered throughout the year by many of our sponsors, often
providing CPE credits. In addition, white papers and other publications are provided free to
members. Marsh recently released the Casualty Cost of Risk report, focusing on the three
most common lines of casualty insurance: worker’s compensation, general liability and
auto, and revealing details and the cost per $1,000 of revenue. Copies of the report are
available at FEIreply@Marsh.com.
The last several years we have ended our season by hosting a Wine Event where we get to
thank the sponsors for all their support and hard work. It has turned out to be one of the
most entertaining and well attended events we have. During my leadership meeting I was
delighted to learn that other chapters have begun hosting similar events, although I’m sure
ours is still the best!
Please join me in thanking our sponsors for all that they do to support our chapter.
You can get to know them at a meeting or take advantage of the expert services and
materials they provide.
Thank you to this month’s sponsor:
