3) How does the District ensure that the AdvancED standards are met by all
the schools and the District as a whole?
The district reviews AdvancEd recommendations from 2006 on a quarterly basis at the
Superintendent’s ELT meetings. AdvancEd standards are also posted on the
accreditation website and changes or revisions to the standards are communicated to
schools through the principal level meetings that are held once a month. All schools
complete a self-assessment in which they rate each indicator for each of the 7 standards.
The self-assessment ensures that principals, assistant principals, teachers and the
entire staff are aware and understand each accreditation standard.
The District’s strategic plan, to be written after the accreditation visit, will address
recommendations from the current visit. The new AdvancED standards will be
included in our School Improvement Plans. Broward County Public Schools continues
to build accreditation capacity throughout the District with the end-goal that all staff
and stakeholders understand and strive to meet accreditation standards.
4) How does the District regularly collect, use, and communicate results?
A regular assessment schedule and a streamlined process allows all stakeholders to
collaborate in the administration and collection of assessment data. Locally
administered assessments, such as Benchmark Assessment Tests, are scored and
reported to the data warehouse quickly, so that students, parents, teachers, and
administrators can utilize student performance feedback to guide student learning.
Aggregate achievement data are analyzed and reported by the Student Assessment &
Research Department and presented in reports available on the District website or in
summary tables provided to schools via the data warehouse School Reports menu.
