Water Management
Australia and New Zealand
People You Know. Brands You Trust
The world’s best-regarded water management brands are united by a common vision - they’re engineered and built to
make mining and construction projects safer and more productive while being sensitive to the environment.
Our flagship water management brand, Sykes has been
a major force in the world’s auto-prime pump market
for over 40 years. Much of its success reflects its
cleverly designed priming systems which improve fluid
handling efficiencies and greatly reduce maintenance
requirements. A ‘snore’ facility built into its groundbreaking
auto-priming pumps, for example, means they
can run dry without damage for extended periods.
From manufacturing bases in Australia and Dubai the
brand has systematically added to its domestic market
domination via established distribution networks across a
number of key global markets.
Also available exclusively throughout Australasia
from AllightSykes, Dragflow agitator slurry pumps are
designed to move dense slurries. Unlike most competitive
pumps, they can pick up solids from rest, mix them into
a high density slurry and then pump them – all in one
operation.
Grindex submersible pumps have been the water
management solutions of choice across Australasia for
more than four decades. Durable high performers, the
range of drainage and sludge pumps owes its success
to clever design features, ease of maintenance and the
ability to handle water containing particulates and solids.
Product Support Promise
Selling you a water management solution isn’t an
AllightSykes goal. It’s our starting point.
We understand that you need to be able to rely on fast,
fuss-free genuine parts and service and warranty backup
long after your pump has started doing its job.
That’s why our Product Support teams are on hand to
make sure you can access qualified, professional and
highly skilled technicians when you need them most.
exclusive to AllightSykes
The science of mobile lighting has sat at the heart of the
Allight brand for more than 20 years. From worldwide
headquarters in Perth, Western Australia, design,
engineering, procurement and assembly teams produce
almost 3,000 lighting towers a year for world markets.
Prime or standby power generating sets which come
with an FG Wilson badge, also bring with them quality
and performance assurances across a huge 6.8kVA to
2200kVa range.
As well as choosing Perkins to power our products,
we’re also the only source of loose engines in Australia.
The range includes both the Perkins and Perkins Marine
Power line-up of clean, efficient engines ranging from 5 to
over 2600HP.
The latest addition to our suite of equipment solutions,
Rotair’s range of compact and quiet motorized
compressors are available in output configurations from
74cfm to 424cfm.
Self Priming Systems
Compressor Prime
Involves passing a jet of compressed air through a venturi-type nozzle to evacuate the pump
casing and suction line. It makes sure priming is fast, positive and continuous - even under
snore conditions. The priming system has no moving parts. This greatly reduces maintenance
requirements.
System Features and Benefits
Impeller
Stainless steel 316 for optimum corrosion resistance. Two per cent
chromium and CD4MCu available as options. Impellers are open
to improve solids handling, and have back vanes and holes for
pressure balancing.
Venturi prime
Simple design, easy to clean. Modular for easy parts replacement.
The Venturi system requires very little maintenance, and so is easily
serviced in the field.
Volute
Spheroidal graphite cast iron for superior strength compared to
ductile and grey iron. This also helps prevent cracking in the metal.
Wear plates
316 stainless steel replacement front and rear wear plates.
Chromium steel abrasion resistant and CD4MCU corrosion and
abrasion resistant steel are available options. Replaceable wear
plate adjustment facility lowers operation and substitution costs.
Discharge
Flapper style check valve for deck
discharge, or ball type for top
discharge available.
Compressor
Water cooled compressors for lower
running costs. This means a longer life and less
maintenance of the compressor and Venturi priming system.
Seal
Oil bath mechanical seals allow dry running for extended periods.
The oil bath dissipates the heat and lubricates the seal. Silicone
carbide and tungsten carbide for the most effective head and
friction coefficient. Seal technology allows for higher pressures,
which improves performance in flooded suction and series
pumping. Seal elastomers include Buna N and Viton.
Shaft
431 stainless steel to help prevent rust or pitting on the shaft and
make seal changes faster and simpler.
Vacuum Prime
Features a vacuum priming chamber which dramatically reduces carry-over due to the stainless
steel baffle deflector plates and pancake float. Ideal for wellpoint dewatering and long suction
conditions.
System Features and Benefits
60cfm vacuum prime
Ensures quick priming even in long suction conditions.
Float type head gear
Made from anti-corrosive materials.
Over centre positive latches
For easy access during servicing and maintenance.
Volute
Made from spheroidal graphite cast iron. Spheroidal graphite iron
provides superior strength compared to ductile and grey iron.
Impeller
Stainless steel 316 for best corrosion resistance, CD4MCu, and
cast iron available as options. Impellers are open for best solids
handling, and have back vanes and holes for pressure balancing.
Discharge
Flapper style check valve for deck discharge, or ball type for top
discharge, available.
Product descriptions and specifications are approximations only and are subject to change without notice.
No reliance can be made on these approximations.
Wear plates
Replacement front and rear
wear plates made from 316
stainless steel. Chromium
steel abrasive resistant and
CD4MCU corrosive and abrasive resistant
steel are available options. Replaceable wear plates lower
operation and substitution costs by allowing adjustment of the
wear plates to maintain efficiencies.
Oil reservoir and oil/air separator
Fitted and an integral part of the vacumax chamber. The two
stage oil separator reduces misting from the vacuum pump
exhaust.
Seal
Oil bath mechanical seals allow dry running for extended periods.
The oil bath dissipates the heat and lubricates the seal.
Shaft
Made from 431 stainless steel which means no rust or pitting on
the shaft for easier seal changes.
Dragflow Pumps
Also available exclusively throughout Australia and New Zealand from AllightSykes, the Dragflow
agitator slurry pump is designed to move dense slurries. Unlike most competitive pumps, it is able to
pick up solids from rest, mix them into a high density slurry and then pump them – all in one operation.
The clever design of the pump’s agitator holds the key to
its ability to pick up material from rest. It also enables the
pump to handle fast settling, high specific gravity solids
and viscous thixotropic mud.
It works by creating a ‘down pressure’ which stirs up
material below the pump’s suction.
The pressure differential (suction of pump versus
down pressure of agitator) which is created mixes and
homogenizes the stirred up material.
10 ALLIGHTSYKES WATER
The mixed and homogenized slurry is then drawn back into
the suction as a highly concentrated, uniform slurry.
Material too large to enter the pump’s suction (screen) is
repelled so that it cannot plug the suction screen.
Grindex Pumps
Grindex submersible pumps have been the water management solutions of choice across Australia
and New Zealand for more than four decades. Durable high performers, the range of drainage and
sludge pumps owes its success to clever design features, ease of maintenance and the ability to
handle water containing particulates and solids.
Grindex Drainage Pumps are ideal for pumping:
• water which may contain abrasive particles – up to
the size of the strainer holes.
• ground water.
• raw water.
Grindex Sludge Pumps are ideal for pumping:
• water with a high solid content up to the size of the
pump inlet opening diameter.
• water which contains abrasive particles.
• different types of mud and sludge.
• light slurry.
We also distribute the Grindex range of Tuff Pumps which
are designed for professional drainage pumping projects
which demand higher than usual levels of durability.
Being relatively light, these pumps are also portable. As an
added bonus, they are equipped with stable and use-togrip
carrying handles.
