POINTS OF INTEREST<br />
Alumni Building (1929) - The oldest building on campus and the only building to survive the fire in 1950.<br />
Classrooms and faculty offices for the College of Arts and Sciences are in this building. It also houses the<br />
UCEL office and the Corporate & Professional Development Center.<br />
Arts and Sciences Commons (1996) - houses Arts and Sciences faculty and administrative offices, the<br />
Card Wildlife Education Center, the Math Science Technology Center, and features "The Visionary," a mural<br />
– one of the largest of its type in the world – depicting the history of FSU, and the Writing Center which<br />
provides peer tutoring to assist students with writing and study skills. This building connects the Science<br />
and Starr Buildings.<br />
Automotive Center (former Technical and Applied Arts Center) (1956) - Comprises the instructional and<br />
lecture facilities for Automotive Services, Automotive Body, Auto and Heavy Equipment Management and<br />
Automotive Engineering Technology.<br />
Business Building (1970) - Houses the auditorium, classrooms and offices of the College of Business.<br />
Extensive terminal and mainframe computer facilities include one of the state’s largest “library concept”<br />
microcomputer laboratories used for educational purposes.<br />
Bishop Hall/College of Education (1967) – Built as a residence hall, it was remodeled in 1986 to house<br />
the College of Education & Human Services administrative offices and classrooms. Tot’s Place is also<br />
located in Bishop.<br />
Granger Center for Construction & HVACR (1962) – Originally built in 1962, the CTC has undergone an<br />
eighteen million dollar new construction and renovation project. The new Granger Center has 75,000<br />
square feet of new construction and houses both the Construction Technology and Management and<br />
HVACR programs. One unusual characteristic is that all building infrastructure and equipment installed in<br />
the building are exposed to view the building as an active teaching tool for all students in both programs.<br />
The Granger Center for Construction and HVACR was dedicated in April 2004.<br />
Creative Arts Center (1965) - This building houses the studios, classrooms, and faculty offices needed for<br />
the Studio Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences.<br />
Ewigleben Sports Complex/Ice Arena - Comprises two indoor ice rinks and a recreational wing with<br />
facilities for intercollegiate hockey, recreational hockey and skating, basketball, and volleyball, all completed<br />
in 1975. An addition completed in 1981 includes a combative room, fitness and sports medicine facilities and<br />
a mini-arena.<br />
G. Mennen Williams Auditorium (1961) – This facility houses FSU’s theater program and also<br />
serves as the major multipurpose auditorium for the FSU campus. With seating for 1,644, Williams<br />
Auditorium hosts musical, dramatic, cultural, and convocation events throughout the year. It also is<br />
available for public rental use when scheduling allows.<br />
Heavy Equipment Center (1987) - A 52,000-square-foot building accommodating students in the heavy<br />
equipment and auto programs. The HEC building is the largest facility in the country dedicated to training<br />
heavy equipment and heavy duty engine technicians.<br />
Interdisciplinary Resource Center (1969) – Contains one large lecture hall seating 250; six classroom<br />
seating 4-60; and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning office suite that includes two computer<br />
training rooms. The second floor houses faculty from the College of Business.<br />
