site to aid in the promotion <strong>of</strong> academics<br />

for all student-athletes.<br />

UND athletics prides itself on the academic excellence <strong>of</strong> its student-athletes,<br />

whose athletic achievements are matched by academic distinction on a<br />

yearly basis .<br />

The George and Arlene Schubert Athletics Academic Center, which opened<br />

in April 2008, serves as a study center for student-athletes and is conveniently<br />

located in the Hyslop Sports Center .<br />

Academic services director Amanda Hajdu oversees the study center, which<br />

features 12 state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art, desktop computers and provides an excellent<br />

location for student-athletes to utilize between classes for valuable daytime<br />

study . The academic center is also available on demand to student-athletes<br />

for evening study table .<br />

UND’s student-athletes also have access to a variety <strong>of</strong> laptop computers for<br />

use on road trips, further emphasizing a department-wide commitment to<br />

academics .<br />

UND’s Academic Awards<br />

Night in February honored<br />

244 student-athletes who<br />

achieved either a 3.0 GPA<br />

during the fall semester or<br />

a cumulative 3.0 through<br />

the Fall 2010 semester.<br />

More than half <strong>of</strong> UND’s<br />

student-athletes achieved<br />

this high honor, including<br />

46 who owned a perfect<br />

4.0 GPA.<br />

• UND placed 110 student-athletes<br />

and Western Collegiate Hockey<br />

• UND’s student-athletes owned a<br />

collective 3 .089 GPA in 2010-11 .<br />

• Sixty-four percent <strong>of</strong> UND’s<br />

student-athletes boasted a 3 .0 GPA<br />

during the spring semester alone .<br />

• Former s<strong>of</strong>tball and hockey<br />

standout Casie Hanson was one<br />

<strong>of</strong> eight national recipients <strong>of</strong> the<br />

prestigious NCAA Top VIII Award .<br />

received the NCAA Elite 88 Award<br />

for men’s hockey .<br />

• UND’s women’s golf program<br />

received public recognition from<br />

the NCAA for its outstanding<br />

multiyear Academic Progress Rate<br />

(APR) . UND’s APR ranked in the top<br />

10 percent <strong>of</strong> all Division I women’s<br />

golf programs, which accounts<br />

for the 2006-07 through 2009-10<br />

academic years .<br />

diving program ranked fourth<br />

among the 89 NCAA Division I teams<br />

named to the 2010 College Swim<br />

Coaches Association <strong>of</strong> America<br />

(CSCAA) Scholar All America Team<br />

in February .
