Fall festival taking place at his<strong>to</strong>ric Woodside estate<br />

Woodside, Calif., September 7, 2004 --- Filoli, located in Woodside, California will be holding<br />

its traditional Autumn at Filoli festival on Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2, from 10:00 AM-3:30 PM.<br />

Admissions for Autumn at Filoli are $15 for adults, $1 for children 2-12, and free for children under 2.<br />

Lunches for adults and children are available for $15 and $8, respectively and must be ordered in<br />

advance. For ticket information, the public should contact <strong>Filoli's</strong> ticket office at 650-364-8300,<br />

Details About Autumn at Filoli<br />

On Saturday, Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2, guests will be able <strong>to</strong> sample a bountiful display of delicious treeripened<br />

apples and pears, enjoy fresh-pressed apple cider, and take docent-guided <strong>to</strong>urs throughout<br />

<strong>Filoli's</strong> magnificent orchard. In addition <strong>to</strong> the fruit samplings and orchard <strong>to</strong>urs, the front courtyard of<br />

the mansion will have fall-inspired crafts and face painting activities for children, as well as the magical<br />

balloon art of Funnybone the Clown. Visi<strong>to</strong>rs are encouraged <strong>to</strong> take pho<strong>to</strong>s next <strong>to</strong> Filoli’s antique<br />

farm truck, which will be artfully decorated with pumpkins and bales of hay for the Autumn season.<br />

Guests are also encouraged <strong>to</strong> discover whimsical, handmade scarecrows displayed among the garden<br />

paths and tucked away in corners of the mansion. As Anne Taylor, Executive Direc<strong>to</strong>r at Filoli notes,<br />

"The estate will be filled with cheerful music, talented performers, and fantastic events for the<br />

entire family."<br />

Filoli Fruit Cook-Off Contest<br />

This year's Autumn at Filoli festival will also include a Fruit Cook-Off Contest. Entrants should<br />

come <strong>to</strong> Filoli <strong>to</strong> pick up organic fruit two weeks prior <strong>to</strong> the event, bake a variety of quick breads, and<br />

submit their original recipes in<strong>to</strong> the judged contest. The two quick bread divisions include morning and<br />

afternoon breads within two fruit categories; pear/apple and persimmon/quince. Judges will include<br />

famous Bay Area pastry chefs such as Alan Tangren and Mary Canales, Executive Pastry Chef and Co-<br />

Pastry Chef respectively of Alice Waters' Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, CA, Lindsey Shere, Co-<br />

Founder and former Pastry Chef of Chez Panisse, and C. Todd Kennedy, heritage fruit grower and<br />

expert. Prizes will be awarded <strong>to</strong> the winners and the public will have an opportunity <strong>to</strong> sample winning<br />

recipe entries.<br />

Filoli, located in Woodside, CA, is recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of<br />

the early twentieth century. The 654-acre property includes a 36,000 square-foot mansion furnished<br />

with elegant antiques and decorative art, as well as sixteen acres of European-inspired gardens which<br />
