Filoli's Summer Bounty Gives Way to Autumn's Special Gifts
Fall festival taking place at historic Woodside estate
Woodside, Calif., September 7, 2004 --- Filoli, located in Woodside, California will be holding
its traditional Autumn at Filoli festival on Saturday, October 2, from 10:00 AM-3:30 PM.
Admissions for Autumn at Filoli are $15 for adults, $1 for children 2-12, and free for children under 2.
Lunches for adults and children are available for $15 and $8, respectively and must be ordered in
advance. For ticket information, the public should contact Filoli's ticket office at 650-364-8300,

Details About Autumn at Filoli
On Saturday, October 2, guests will be able to sample a bountiful display of delicious treeripened
apples and pears, enjoy fresh-pressed apple cider, and take docent-guided tours throughout
Filoli's magnificent orchard. In addition to the fruit samplings and orchard tours, the front courtyard of
the mansion will have fall-inspired crafts and face painting activities for children, as well as the magical
balloon art of Funnybone the Clown. Visitors are encouraged to take photos next to Filoli’s antique
farm truck, which will be artfully decorated with pumpkins and bales of hay for the Autumn season.
Guests are also encouraged to discover whimsical, handmade scarecrows displayed among the garden
paths and tucked away in corners of the mansion. As Anne Taylor, Executive Director at Filoli notes,
"The estate will be filled with cheerful music, talented performers, and fantastic events for the
entire family."

Filoli Fruit Cook-Off Contest
This year's Autumn at Filoli festival will also include a Fruit Cook-Off Contest. Entrants should
come to Filoli to pick up organic fruit two weeks prior to the event, bake a variety of quick breads, and
submit their original recipes into the judged contest. The two quick bread divisions include morning and
afternoon breads within two fruit categories; pear/apple and persimmon/quince. Judges will include
famous Bay Area pastry chefs such as Alan Tangren and Mary Canales, Executive Pastry Chef and Co-
Pastry Chef respectively of Alice Waters' Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, CA, Lindsey Shere, Co-
Founder and former Pastry Chef of Chez Panisse, and C. Todd Kennedy, heritage fruit grower and
expert. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and the public will have an opportunity to sample winning
recipe entries.
