INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
It is the policy of Fingal County Council that all roads in residential and industrial
developments are provided with appropriate public lighting. In all developments to
be taken-in-charge by Fingal County Council, the Developer is completely
responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the Council public lighting design are
completed to the Council's satisfaction. Should a Developer decide retrospectively
to offer a development for adoption by the Council, he will be responsible also for
any additional works that may be required to bring the public lighting system up
to taking-in-charge standard.
Public lighting installations normally require supply and installation of all ducting,
cabling, service-pillars, columns, lanterns and other necessary electrical
equipment as specified by the Council.
Fingal County Council has a policy of minimising energy usage in lighting
installations subject to achieving appropriate lighting levels and minimising
maintenance costs. With this objective in mind, the Electrical Section will provide
the layout of the public lighting system on site drawings provided by the
Developer. Column positions, nominal height of columns, lantern types, cable
sizes, underground circuits and column numbering scheme will all be indicated.
The Developer must adhere fully to the layout shown. The installation will not be
accepted unless it is has been installed according to the agreed design and
electrical specifications. All installations will be subject to inspection by the
Electrical Section during works and on completion.
Any conflicts between the Council lighting design requirements and site
conditions must be notified to the Electrical Section prior to agreeing appropriate
modifications. Unapproved modifications will not be accepted for taking-incharge.
