EZE Loader – Automatic Pallet Positioners 

EZE Loaders are true ergonomic tools. They have no mechanical springs and are 

designed to automatically raise and lower pallets during loading or unloading and 

allow easy pallet rotation so the worker does not have to reach or strain. As the 

load changes, the EZE-Loader automatically adjusts, keeping the top of the load 

at a convenient working height. The patented pneumatic support system utilizes 

the proven Firestone Airstroke Actuator TM , a system based on Firestone’s Airide TM 

springs for truck and bus suspension systems. 

n No mechanical springs, uses captive air to pressurise the Airstroke Actuator TM . 

A bleed valve is provided for capacity adjustments. 

n Pressure relief valve prevents excess pressure build up. 

n Automatic load weight compensation to keep the top of the load at a convenient

Palift – Spring Loaded Pallet Positioner 

Model PAL-GS Palift is a load elevating and lowering device 

designed to eliminate the bending required when loading 

or unloading palletised goods. Palift is a simple, robust 

mechanism consisting of a scissor lift between two steel 

platforms. The lifting force is generated by heavy duty 

compression springs with shock absorbers fitted to dampen 

the vertical movement of the load. A selection of springs is 

available to suit a wide range of loads up to two tonnes.

Gravity Conveyors, Frames & 

Rigid Supports 

The Backsafe range of gravity conveyors will enable 

goods of various shapes, sizes and weights to be 

moved quickly, efficiently and safely from one 

operational stage to the next. 

Your choice of roller or wheel conveyor will depend on the nature 

of the articles to be moved. Generally goods that are heavy or 

less uniform in shape, or both, will require roller conveyors. 

Lighter and more uniform articles may well suit the use of wheel 

conveyor, which have the capacity to move goods quicker. 

Although each part of a gravity section has separate load 

capacities, it is important to note that the overall capacity of the 

section is dependent upon the combination of roller pitch, roller 

type and the method of support. If in doubt, please refer to your 

nearest Backsafe representative. 

Standard roller conveyor frames and rigid supports are supplied 

in a painted condition. Where adverse operating conditions exist, 

hot-dip galvanised frames and supports are available. 

Roller Conveyor Frame (90 x 28 x 2.5 channel) Available in both 

straight and curved sections, the side channel is made from 

2.5mm thick material, folded in a ‘C’ section for strength. 

The cross members are made of inverted 40 mm x 40 mm 

x 3mm angle iron, strategically welded into position to reinforce 

the section and provide a bed for the rigid support. 

There are standard lengths for straight sections (1500 mm and 

3000mm) and curves 45 degree and 90 degree). 

‘Oval’ axle holes to suit our standard Backsafe gravity rollers are 

punched at 37.5 mm centres for flexibility of roller pitch. 

Sections interlock to form a positive and secure join between 

frames allowing the flexibility to add or reduce sections as 

required. Straight sections incorporate a bar coupler at one 

end and a hook coupler at the other. Curved sections have 

universal couplers at both ends.

Rigid Supports 

Backsafe rigid supports provide a firm foundation for all the roller 

and wheel conveyor sections in the range. 

Made from tubular construction and fully welded for strength 

and reliability, each stand can be individually adjusted to the 

height required. A range of models is available to suit various 

frame widths, providing the choice of operating heights from 

305 mm to 1320 mm. 

While supports have the flexibility to be used as freestanding 

units, it is recommended that they are bolted into position to

Gravity rollers - oval axle 

The standard range of Backsafe rollers are manufactured 

with an ‘oval’ shaped formed axle. This effectively locks 

the axle in the frame and holds the inner bearing firmly 

thus ensuring maximum efficiency from the ball race. 

An internal spring at one end enables the axle to be 

laterally moved for ease of assembly, alterations to roller 

pitch or removal for maintenance. 

Three ranges are offered to suit standard applications 

and operating conditions. The rollers in curved sections 

are of the double differential type, enabling cartons etc. 

to maintain a controlled course and not wander to the 

outside of the curve. 

Although manufactured to suit the Backsafe gravity 

conveyor frame, non-standard lengths and axle types 

are available on application. If adverse operating 

conditions are encountered, it is important that you 

refer to your nearest Backsafe representative to ensure 

the best selection possible. For instance, galvabond 

rollers and polypropylene rollers with sealed stainless 

bearings and axles are available to suit moderate to 

heavy corrosive conditions. 

As roller capacities quoted are for moving flat objects, 

selections should also take into account possible 

impact, where a heavier roller is more suitable. 

For ease of movement and reduction in damage, 

there should always be a minimum of three rollers 

under the commodity at all times. Where there are 

multiple sizes of products involved, roller pitch is 

determined by the smallest commodity to be moved.

Wheel track 

These versatile wheel tracks can be used in a wide variety of 

warehousing and materials handling situations. Available in either 

standard 75 mm or 150 mm pitch, they are ideal for use in 

warehousing shelving for the deep storage of parcels. As the front 

parcel is removed, the whole line moves up to take its place. 

The simple design has a line of conveyor wheels mounter in a 

2mm thick press steel frame with provision for mounting to any 

flat surface. The axles are 1/4 VSW x 11/2” ZP hex set screw with 

nyloc nut. 

The wheel track utilises the same steel and nylon wheels used 

in the wheel conveyor, allowing choice depending upon loading 

capacity and operational use. 

The Standard 3000mm long tracks can be cut to any length to suit 

specific installations. By using the tracks mounted on Backsafe 

rigid supports, a mini conveyor can easily be set up to suit all kinds 

of materials handling situations.

Wheel track 

These simple, but very adaptable free-rolling units enable operators 

to transfer most flat objects in any direction on a horizontal plane. 

They are especially suited for transferring goods from one conveyor 

line to another, the movement of boxes of parts around machines, 

shifting commodities on or off scale-platforms and manipulating

The Advantages of Pivotal Crane Systems 

n The system uses fixed side rails with an oscillating, articulating and pivoting 

bridge. The actions are achieved by the unique ball pivot and U-hanger design. 

n The bridge using fixed side rails which are located between the upper and 

lower pivots reduces sway found in cranes with pivoting side rails. 

n Operator effort is reduced through the lever action created by the U-hanger 

lower pivots. 

n Various models to fit the needs of all manual crane users

n The shorter end carriage allows the crane bridge to move in close to walls. 

n Little effort is required to push the Pivotal crane, even when loaded on an outer

until the inertia of the bridge starts it moving. When the loaded carriage stops 

the pivot system absorbs the inertia as the bridge comes to a slow standstill.

engineering approval), eliminating any need for support rods, or side rail pivots. 

This allows for reduced head height mounting.
