What Occupational Medicine
Services Can Do for Employers
Addressing safety and health issues
in the workplace saves employers
money while also protecting
employees and the business itself. With
an aging workforce combined with
potential employee pre-existing
conditions, hiring and retaining qualified
and physically able workers can be a
significant challenge for employers.
The implications of the Americans
with Disabilities Act Amendments Act
(ADAAA) have affected how employers
can legally perform prehire and returnto-work
testing without potential
discrimination.
The center for Occupational
Health and Wellness
The Center for Occupational Health
and Wellness serves as a single, expert
source of information for business
owners for their employees’ health, as
well as provides an employee wellness
program for the business. Highly
On-site Job Analysis
Physical therapists through Faith
Regional Occupational Health and
Wellness can provide employers
with an on-site assessment to help
employers improve job descriptions,
develop functional prehire screens,
and provide return-to-duty tests.
The physical therapy team does
this through a job demand analysis
(JDA). A JDA is the on-site analysis
of a particular job to determine the
exact physical and positional
demands of the job. This often
includes measuring heights and
weights, determining frequencies of
lifting, bending, and so forth, and
❵
classifying demands into the categories
of occasional, frequent, and
continuous. Performing a JDA can
be used to improve an employer’s
job description to more accurately
reflect the job requirements.
