Role of<br />

Regional Superintendent<br />

The Regional Superintendent is the<br />

chief administrative officer of the <strong>ROE</strong><br />

and is a local elected official for<br />

education.<br />

The Regional Superintendent:<br />

• Complies with 925 citations from the<br />

Illinois School Code.<br />

• Acts as official advisor to<br />

administrators and teachers.<br />

• Enforces state laws including life<br />

safety, certification, curriculum and<br />

school academic performance.<br />

• Responds to inquiries from parents,<br />

school personnel and the public on<br />

local educational concerns.<br />

• Partners with multiple government<br />

agencies to promote efficiency.<br />

The Illinois School Code dictates all<br />

mandates, responsibilities and services of<br />

the Regional Office of Education in 105<br />

The <strong>Kane</strong> <strong>County</strong> Regional Office of<br />

Education advocates for education,<br />

provides leadership, performs regulatory<br />

functions, coordinates state and local<br />

services, and disseminates information<br />

to educators, school districts, and the<br />

Health and Life Safety<br />

the standards necessary to ensure the health and<br />

safety of public school students in Illinois,<br />

according to “Building Specifications for Health<br />

and Safety in Public Schools.”<br />
