Role of
Regional Superintendent
The Regional Superintendent is the
chief administrative officer of the ROE
and is a local elected official for
education.
The Regional Superintendent:
• Complies with 925 citations from the
Illinois School Code.
• Acts as official advisor to
administrators and teachers.
• Enforces state laws including life
safety, certification, curriculum and
school academic performance.
• Responds to inquiries from parents,
school personnel and the public on
local educational concerns.
• Partners with multiple government
agencies to promote efficiency.
The Illinois School Code dictates all
mandates, responsibilities and services of
the Regional Office of Education in 105

The Kane County Regional Office of
Education advocates for education,
provides leadership, performs regulatory
functions, coordinates state and local
services, and disseminates information
to educators, school districts, and the
community.

Health and Life Safety
All public school buildings and school-related
buildings, including temporary/mobile classrooms
are inspected annually to assure compliance with
the standards necessary to ensure the health and
safety of public school students in Illinois,
according to “Building Specifications for Health
and Safety in Public Schools.”
