Our Mission
The Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to providing financial contributions to enhance
the traditional tax-based funding for library resources, services and
programming. A strong library system enriches the community by
expanding minds and enriching lives. The Foundation recognizes that
the strength of the library stems from well-trained staff, ample high-
quality materials, the latest technology and well-equipped buildings.
A Message from the Foundation President
“My mother and my father were illiterate immigrants from
Russia. When I was a child they were constantly amazed
that I could go to a building and take a book on any subject.
They couldn’t believe this access to knowledge we have
here in America. They couldn’t believe that it was free.”
- Kirk Douglas
We are so very fortunate to live in a country that values
knowledge and has created a library system which enables
patrons to access materials that will help them grow and
learn. As one of the top library systems in the country,
Baltimore County Public Library offers so many opportunities
for knowledge, exploration, entertainment and
learning. We couldn’t have made it to the top without the
help of a very special group of people.
The organizations and individuals listed in this report
have generously given to the Foundation for Baltimore
County Public Library because each and every one of
them believes in the importance of what the library
does and provides to the citizens of the community. Our
donors recognize the importance of exposing children
to reading at a young age. Their financial contributions
have helped the foundation purchase the Read Rover Plus
mobile library and the materials to launch the My First Library
Card program for kindergartners across the county.
Both initiatives were vital in reaching out to children in
the community and introducing them to all the resources
the library has to offer.
As the foundation moves ahead with its next children’s literacy
project we look forward to being able to continue to
help the Baltimore County Public Library provide quality
resources and programs for the community. Thank you
to all of our contributors for helping us expand minds and
enrich lives.
