An 80-key ultra-compact, X-Y matrix keyboard designed for demanding<br />
retail point of sale and dealing room applications.<br />
Description<br />
The <strong>AKC080</strong> is a 10 column by 8 row matrix, compact<br />
programmable keyboard ideal for compact <strong>POS</strong> and<br />
dealing room applications. The 80 key keypad combines an<br />
exceptionally small size and rugged construction.<br />
All AKC keyboards are made using high quality switches with<br />
a rated life of more than 50 million operations. Cool white and<br />
dark grey case colours match industry standard peripherals.<br />
<strong>Access</strong> <strong>IS</strong> provides a configuration service to customise<br />
keypads with special key top layouts, colours and legends.<br />
All keys on the <strong>AKC080</strong> are fully programmable. The<br />
<strong>Access</strong> <strong>IS</strong> SoftProg32 Windows ® configuration software<br />
enables users to design their own layouts. Key positions<br />
can be programmed to have a single character or string<br />
of characters. Adjacent keys may be combined to provide<br />
double and quad keys. Keys may also be disabled using a<br />
key switch lock-out cover.<br />
The keyboard has a USB interface and, optionally, two buspowered<br />
hub ports for connecting another keyboard, a mouse<br />
or other USB1.1 devices which draw less than 100mA.<br />

Flexibility and Reliability<br />
The majority of all keyboards manufactured by <strong>Access</strong> are based on<br />
a proven and well established modular design. When combined with<br />
our ability to offer custom keysets, non-standard housing colours and<br />
application-specific keyboard programming, we are able to offer an<br />
infinite number of keyboard variations from a single basic design. As<br />
a result, design costs and time to market are kept to a minimum, and a<br />
high product reliability is assured.<br />
Options<br />
A number of options are available with the <strong>AKC080</strong> keyboard.<br />
• A biometric fingerprint reader can be added for user ID acceptance,<br />
providing a convenient and secure alternative to password based login<br />
and user verification.<br />
• A full-sized integrated mouse pointer with twin-buttons provides a tidy<br />
and ergonomic alternative to a keyboard mouse.<br />
• Customer branding can be applied to the keyboard with custom<br />
housing and keycap colours and the addition of a company logo.<br />
• Two port-powered USB connections can be added to allow the<br />
connection of other peripheral devices.<br />
