Our Lady Star of the Sea 5th Annual
Corpus Christi
Procession
On The Feast of the
Most Holy Body and
Blood
Sunday, June 2nd,
2013
In his Apostolic Letter Mane nobiscum Domine John Paul II particularly promoted the
procession on Corpus Christi: “This year let us also celebrate with particular devotion the
Solemnity of Corpus Christi, with its traditional procession. Our faith in the God who took flesh
in order to become our companion along the way needs to be everywhere proclaimed, especially
in our streets and homes, as an expression of our grateful love and as an inexhaustible source
of blessings."
The Corpus Christi Procession gives the Catholic believer a unique opportunity to proclaim their
Eucharistic faith to the world. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present among us through
the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and thus during the procession we are showing that faith to the
world. It also cannot but bring blessings to our community and to those who participate as we
witness to our Eucharistic faith.
The procession will begin at Star at 1:30pm and go through the surrounding neighborhood to
six designated stations. These will be in the front yards of homes belonging to local parish
families where altars will be set up for benediction. The procession route will be about 1.2 miles
long and should take approximately one hour. It will conclude back at Star with a final blessing
at the seventh altar. It will be a wonderful day of prayer and celebration in honor of the Most
Blessed Sacrament.
Schedule of Events
Mass in the Extraordinary Form at 11 am
Pageant in the Gym at 1 pm
Procession begins in front of the church at 1:30 pm
Potluck to follow in Camerman Hall
All are welcome to join us for this special event
in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament

WEDNESDAY EVENING TALK SCHEDULE
The Catholic Author and commentator George Weigel recently released a great new
book entitled, “Evangelical Catholicism”. The book lays out a plan for Catholics in the
modern world, which offers a vision of how we need to be Catholic in the 21 st century
so that we can carry out the mission entrusted to us by Jesus Christ.
In the book, Weigel lists 10 principle characteristics of Evangelical Catholics – which
we will use as our topics for our Wednesday Evening Talks for the next few months.
Each Talk will begin at 7pm, after the Holy Hour, and will be in Camerman Hall. The
talk will finish up at 8:15.
1. May 29 th
Evangelical Catholicism is friendship with the Lord
Jesus Christ. Ultimately our purpose in life is to live in
an intimate friendship with Jesus Christ, and to invite
others into that friendship. It is our job as evangelists
to live out our friendship with Christ in joy and in the
world as His witnesses.
2. June 5 th
Evangelical Catholicism affirms divine revelation and
embraces its authority, which continues through
history in the teaching authority of the Church. To live
an authentically Christian life means to live “in” the
Church. We need the guidance of the Church to be able
to freely live out our faith.
3. June 12 th
Evangelical Catholicism celebrates the seven
sacraments as divinely given means of sanctifying life.
We recognize in the Sacraments an opportunity to
encounter the Risen Lord and to receive from Him the
graces necessary to be a good evangelist. In the
Sacramental life of the Church we develop a lived
relationship with Christ where we encounter him
daily, especially in the Holy Eucharist and Confession.
4. June 19 th
Evangelical Catholicism is a call to constant
conversion of life, which involves both the rejection of
evil, and active participation in the works of service
and charity. As Catholics we know that it is our life of
charity and service which best witnesses our
relationship with Christ, and is most inspiring to
others to live a life of self-giving. Humble service is one
of our most important tools in bringing others to
Christ.
5. June 26 th
Evangelical Catholicism is a liturgically centered form
of Catholic life that embraces both the ancient
traditions of Catholic worship and the authentic
renewal of the liturgy according to the teaching of the
Second Vatican Council. Celebrating the Sacred Liturgy
with awe, reverence and love is an important part of
our witness to the world.
6. July 3 rd
Evangelical Catholicism is a biblically centered form
of Catholic life that reads the Bible as the Word of God
for the salvation of souls. We need a life nourished by
the prayerful reading of Sacred Scripture. Lectio
Divina, and knowledge of Scripture are essential
components of living an authentically evangelical life.
7. July 10 th
Evangelical Catholicism is a hierarchically ordered
Catholicism in which a variety of vocations is
respected. Everybody has an important work to do in
the Church. Christ invites every member of his body to
be a part of bringing the Gospel to the world.
8. July 17 th
Evangelical Catholicism is both culture-forming and
countercultural. Throughout the history of the Church
we have led people to Christ through culture and have
been a force for bringing beauty and goodness into the
world, we have to rediscover how to do that today.
9. July 24 th
Evangelical Catholicism enters the public square
with the voice of reason, grounded in Gospel
conviction. Human reason and Natural Law are the
place where we have the opportunity to enter into
dialogue with secularists and non-believers.
10. July 31 st
Evangelical Catholicism awaits with eager
anticipation the coming of the Lord Jesus in glory, and
until that time, Evangelical Catholicism is ordered to
mission - to the proclamation of the Gospel for the
world’s salvation.
