teven Scott Reimers, age 62, of Schaller, Iowa died
March 5, 2012 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical
Steve was born October 23, 1949 in
Alta, Iowa the son of Glenn C. and Mary
Carol (Flemming) Reimers.
Growing up, Steve attended school in
Schaller where he graduated from
Schaller High School in 1968. Following high school graduation,
Steve attended Iowa Tech Community College in Ottumwa where he
graduated with a Communications Degree in 1970.
On May 19, 1978, Steve was united in marriage to Joann Lynn
Harjes in Schaller, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with three
c h i l d r e n :
Melissa, Shane,
and Matthew.
Steve was a
lifelong member
of the Presbyterian Church in Schaller. He was an active Chamber
member and started the Revolving Loan Fund for Schaller. Steve was a
third generation
o w n e r ,
manager, and
operator of the
S c h a l l e r
Telephone Company, an independent family owned company. In 1980,
Steve expanded into cable television through Comserv, LTD. Among
other things, Steve also started Schaller Telemarketing in 1987 and
Prism Marketing in 1993, both based in Schaller.
Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking until Huntington’s
Disease no longer permitted him to do so. He loved playing cards and
cribbage with
friends and
family. Steve
treasured
t r a v e l i n g ,
especially with
his wife and children. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending
time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joann Reimers of
Schaller, Iowa; children: Missy (Jim) Kestel of Schaller, Iowa; Shane
Reimers of Sioux City, Iowa; Matthew Reimers of West Des Moines, Iowa;
grandchildren: Allison, Becca and Ashley Kestel all of Schaller, Iowa;
extended family and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Carol
Reimers; and sister, Memory Reimers.
