A Russian Aerial Leaflet urging German Soldiers to Surrender to the Soviet Army under a Safe Conduct Pass by Stalin
Early in the battles of the Russian Front, Stalin offered German soldiers a safe conduct pass if they were willing to surrender to Soviet troops. This original leaflet
was dropped by Russian planes over entrenched German troops in an attempt to persuade German soldiers to lay down their arms. Printed in Russia primarily in
German, the leaflet states that “Hitler’s army officers and the SS goons keep driving you to a sure death…Allow yourself to be taken prisoner with this leaflet which
is your passport in your hand, Abandon Hitler the war monger”.
An image on the reverse shows abandoned German Tiger tanks in a town square, left by retreating German Soldiers in Ukraine indicating an early defeat of the
German Army. Cyrillic text at the bottom right of the single sheet, two sided leaflet notifies Russian soldiers that the leaflet is a passport or safe passage for the
German soldiers, the reality being often-times much worse. In very good condition, these sorts of Russian propaganda leaflets are rare survivors from the Russian
Front in World War II. $250
