’ Monday - Friday • May 28 - August 2 • Hours: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the excitement and adventure of Kids’ University! In 2013, the spirit and tradition of Kids’ University day camp continues with a summer full of games, arts and crafts, field trips, swimming and new friendships. The mission of Kids’ University is to provide a safe and wholesome environment for kids to come and enjoy their summer. Campers will have daily opportunities to learn and have incredible amounts of FUN through diverse activities! Each week has its own special theme which, instructors, guest speakers and visitors bring to life. Planned activities for each theme will be age-appropriate, varying in content based on the age of the child. The people who work for Kids’ University are our biggest asset. Their special interest in today’s youth and their enthusiasm are what makes Kids’ University a wonderful experience. Licensed teachers, recent graduates, community professionals, and university students combine their experience, talents and personalities to make a unique ete first aid and CPR certified. Certified lifeguards and your child’s teachers are always present during their time at the pool. Campers must be comfortable in the water and able to swim unassisted. They may use floaties or life jackets. Minimum water depth is 4 feet. Kids’ University will provide one daily snack and drinks throughout each day. Also, students will receive a souvenir for each week of attendance. Children should bring their own sack lunch and additional snacks, if desired. Register for one week, all 10 weeks or any combination of weeks. Registration is on a first-paid, first-enrolled basis. Children will not be guaranteed a place in Kids’ University until the registration fee is paid. Refunds will not be granted unless the Department of Continuing Education is notified by 4:45 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to each week’s initial class meeting. A signed waiver of liability and emergency contact form are required. Sign up for nine weeks and receive your last week at half price! Family discount - $7 off per student for families with three or more children enrolled. Space is limited in each class so don’t wait or the week(s) you want will be full! Aloha Summer! May 28-31 (Memorial Day Holiday) Get ready for another fun-filled summer as we kick it off Hawaiian style here at Kids’ University! Come join us as we learn about the different customs of Hawaii and participate in authentic Hawaiian summer games such as Ulu Maika, Hula, Coconut Bowling and much more. You’ll also have a camp wide Luau that is sure to be a blast! This is going to a week of camp you don’t want to miss, so make sure and sign up today so you can help us say “Aloha Kau Wela,” which is Hawaiian for “hello summer!” Fee: $89 Express Yourself June 3-7 Learn about yourself and others through creative expression! You will get the chance to express yourself through art, writing and dancing. Everyone has a special talent, and this week you’ll get the chance to shine on stage. Don’t miss one of the favorite Kids’ U events of the summer where everyone will be given the opportunity to perform in the annual Kids’ University Talent show! You’ll travel to the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Macon. Join us for an action packed and inspirational week! Fee: $129 Think Out of the Box! June 10-14 Did you know that, as a kid, you’re a natural innovator and that braille, the popsicle, ear muffs and the trampoline were invented by kids? These kids were not afraid to think out of the box to solve a problem. We’ll get your “right-brain” working in overdrive as we devote this week to those who like to build, create and invent. We’ll offer a series of challenges to put your imagination and inventive skills to the test. Put on your thinking caps because we’re bound to come up with the best thing since sliced bread. Throughout the week, you’ll also invent carnival booth games and at the end of the week you’ll get to play each other’s games at our very own Kids’ University Carnival! Fee: $99 Our Town June 17-21 Ever wonder how old Georgia College is or what it was before it was a college? What happened in downtown Milledgeville 100 years ago? Did you know that there were books written about people from Milledgeville? This week you will learn some of the obscure facts and little secrets about Milledgeville that will be great conversation starters for years to come. You’ll also get to visit some of our favorite people and places in town! Fee: $99 What a Wonderful World June 24-28 There are so many amazing things about our world out there! You’ll see how beautiful rainbows are made, visit with some amazing animals and learn about some breathtaking landmarks. Since we want to help keep our world wonderful, you’ll also learn how to take care of it and put your plans into action at Kids’ University! You won’t forget how helping others can keep our world wonderful too! This week you’ll travel to the Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s GoFish Education Center in Perry to learn how important wildlife conservation is! Fee: $129 Activate July 1-5 (July 4) Did you know that staying active does wonders for you? It’s amazing! Staying active can do so much more than strengthen your bones and muscles! It can help you build a strong immune system, strengthen your heart and lungs, give you more energy, and improve memory and concentration! All you have to do is play! You’ll swim, dance, run, jump, climb, skate and throw. Your body is an amazing machine and it needs daily maintenance including the right food. Learn how to choose the right fuel to keep your body and brain running in high gear. You’ll also take a trip to visit some of our town’s favorite places where we can get active! Fee: $99 When I Grow Up July 8-12 We’re sure you’ve been asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” This week we’ll help you explore the answer to that question! You’ll get to visit with people in many different professions and learn how their job contributes to our community. Find out why your school teachers work so hard to teach you biology, math, history and more! See how many professionals use the information they learned in school every day to do their job! You’ll also dress up as what you would like to be when you grow up! Fee: $99 It’s a Mystery July 15-19 Mysterious things are happening this week at Kids’ U, and we need your help to solve them! Come and join our Kids’ University detective team! Use your observation skills, collect fingerprints, follow the tracks and analyze handwriting to gather the clues to unravel the many mysteries at camp this week. Campers will participate in scavenger hunts and will also learn how archaeology and paleontology have uncovered the mysteries of the past. Rising 4th through 7th graders will visit the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds in Macon. Fee: Grades K-3: $99 Grades 4-7: $129 Color War! July 22-26 Which team will you be on? Green or blue? What will the theme be? When the competition begins, no one knows, but the “break out” of the games will be exciting and sure to surprise you! Color wars are a long time summer camp tradition all over the country, and we’re bringing it to Kids’ University! Of course, it’s not really a war. It’s actually 5 days of ridiculous FUN and games! The entire camp is split into teams, and each team will have a theme to follow. You’ll create songs, costumes, team spirit banners and more to cheer your team on. In the end, even after a week of fun competition (swim races, obstacle courses, silly games, etc.), we remind our campers that we’re not at war and the camp will unite as one at the final ceremony. Fee: $99 Camp Rewind July 29-August 2 Not ready for summer to end? Good, because we’re not either! You’re going to squeeze in one more week of summer fun at Kids’ University! You’ll play your favorite Kids’ U games, swim one more week at the pool and spend time with your camp friends before going back to school. You’ll end the summer with many of your favorite activities from weeks past, and don’t forget our end of camp party on Friday! Fee: $99 Children are divided into age groups each week.
