in <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Brand</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong> within the United<br />
Kingdom. Our <strong>MBA</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Brand</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong><br />
(LBM) requires creative and entrepreneurial<br />
marketers capable of responding to the<br />
challenges and opportunities associated with<br />
managing global brands within fast-moving,<br />
highly competitive and diverse trading markets.<br />
This programme provides an outstanding<br />
platform for career development in the global<br />
luxury sector.<br />
Our philosophy is to provide an academically<br />
challenging and intellectually robust degree<br />
that enhances and develops students’ brand<br />
marketing knowledge and skills. It draws<br />
from the latest research and industry thinking<br />
in strategy, brand management and luxury<br />
marketing.<br />
The key emphasis throughout the programme<br />
is to take a strategic view of the nature,<br />
characteristics and business opportunities<br />
inherent to the luxury goods sector, whilst<br />
adopting a creative approach to problem solving<br />
and business development. This programme will<br />
help you develop a strategic understanding and<br />
will hone your skills as a critical thinker and<br />
decisions maker within the luxury sector.<br />
The Programme<br />
An intensive masters programme, the <strong>MBA</strong><br />
LBM focuses on the advanced study of<br />
luxury organisations , leadership strategies,<br />
international management strategies and<br />
the fast paced developments of the global<br />
luxury sector.<br />
Programme Structure<br />
Our well-established links with industry together<br />
with current thinking and research has shaped<br />
the structure of the programme, which consists<br />
of 7 modules, plus a Masters Dissertation.<br />
Core modules<br />
Creating Value in the <strong>Luxury</strong> Sector:<br />
Provides an in-depth knowledge of the structure<br />
of the luxury goods market, the prevailing<br />
business responses and the impact that market<br />
change may have upon future prospects<br />
and opportunities.<br />
Strategic Management and <strong>Marketing</strong> for<br />
<strong>Luxury</strong> Goods: Provides a comprehensive<br />
coverage of the theories and concepts of<br />
strategic management. The module includes an<br />
analysis of the nature and purpose of strategy,<br />
strategy creation and implementation process<br />
within luxury businesses.<br />
Responsible Leadership: Provides the skills<br />
nescessary to develop the concept and practices<br />
of responsible leadership for the luxury sector.<br />
The module encompasses developing selfawarness;<br />
macro and sociological perspectives;<br />
psychological perspectives; individual<br />
differences and personal characteristics;<br />
emerging perspectives.<br />
Globalisation and Global Citizenship: Focuses<br />
on two key themes: ethics and international<br />
political-economic perspectives, providing<br />
the necessary knowledge across economy,<br />
law and politics essential for successfully<br />
operating internationally.<br />
Product and <strong>Brand</strong> Management for the <strong>Luxury</strong><br />
Goods Sector: Considers the nature of the<br />
luxury product and the competitive advantage<br />
that it provides with respect to the delivery of<br />
excellence in quality, design and distinctiveness.<br />
Post Graduate Creative and Cultural Project:<br />
The aim of the project is to enable you to<br />
undertake an independently driven, subject<br />
relevant, large scale project which will give you<br />
the opportunity to be assessed on industry<br />
relevant work (for example in the area of luxury<br />
brand development, luxury retail marketing,<br />
luxury communications).<br />

Wealth Management and Personal Finance:<br />
Provides students with a competent<br />
understanding of the nature and function of<br />
finance within a luxury business setting.<br />

Students may select to undertake one elective<br />

Students studying the <strong>MBA</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Brand</strong><br />
<strong>Marketing</strong> will be part of a small and focused<br />
class, a mix of local and international students<br />
sharing management expertise and benefiting<br />
from teaching by world-class professors, with<br />
research and professional experience as well<br />
as close links to industry.<br />
The diversity and experience brought to the<br />
class by each individual is one of the primary<br />
strengths of the <strong>MBA</strong> in GCU London. The<br />
programme is designed to promote informal<br />
peer support and knowledge sharing networks,<br />
helping them to become effective, independent,<br />

Assessment<br />
A number of assessment methods are used in<br />
the programme, which vary between modules,<br />
and include: group work, case studies, written<br />
coursework, group presentations, projects and<br />
a research-based dissertation.<br />

strong careers within globally recognised<br />
organisations. Our international graduates have<br />
gone on to gain employment in their home<br />

Entry Requirements<br />
UK Honours Degree 2:2 or equivalent in a<br />
relevant subject or a post graduate diploma<br />
(e.g. Business or Management) and minimum<br />
3 years relevant managerial experience. Nonstandard<br />
entrants will also be considered with<br />
over 5 years relevant work experience: 3 years<br />
of which must be at managerial level.<br />
English Language Requirements<br />
For applicants whose first language is not<br />
English, the following English Language test<br />
scores are normally required, IELTS score of<br />
6.0 (or equivalent) is required, with no element<br />
below 5.5.<br />
Self-funded scholarships<br />
25% scholarships are available for self-funded<br />
students who meet the full admissions criteria.<br />
Scholarship offers will be made based on<br />
information provided in your <strong>MBA</strong> programme<br />
application form. No additional application form<br />
is required.<br />
Corporate Sponsorship<br />
Scholarships are available to organisations<br />
sponsoring students. The level of scholarship<br />
depends on the number of students sponsored:<br />
• 1 student – 25% scholarship<br />
• 2 students – 30% scholarship<br />
• 3 students – 35% scholarship<br />
• 4 or more students – 40% scholarship<br />
