.400 Club
In PC’s first four home softball
games of the 2009 slate, the Blue
Hose have five student-athletes that
played in all four games and are hitting
over .400. Taylor Staten, Laura Tate
Owings, Leslie Hensley, Kayla Handy
and Brittany Howell have all hit at least
.400 in their last four contests.
Save It For Another Day
The doubleheader that was slated
for Feb. 28 at Savannah State has
been postponed. The teams will
reschedule the doubleheader in
the near future. PC has never lost
to Savannah State since moving to
Division I, winning all the contests
by a combined 66-1 score. The
doubleheader at UNC Charlotte that
was postponed marked four straight
contests that PC has been unable to
play.

Rookie Leslie Hensley performed
well at the USC Upstate Tournament.
She picked up two victories while
recording an ERA of just 1.50. She
started both games and tossed
12 innings of work, throwing one
complete game en route to earning
Big South Pitcher of the Week honors.
Start Of A Streak
The Presbyterian College softball
team picked up back-to-back wins
last weekend at the USC Upstate
Tournament after falling in the first
round of play. The Blue Hose allowed
just three runs in the final two games
while scoring nine.
Miller’s Memorable Honor
Sophomore Amanda Miller put
together a solid opening weekend,
starting four games while smashing
two long bombs en
route to a six RBI
performance. One
of her four-base hits
was a grand slam
against Jacksonville,
securing the win for
PC. For her effort,
Miller was tabbed
the Big South
Player of the Week.
It not only marked
Miller’s first-ever
Player of the Week
accolade, but it also
marked the first time
that Presbyterian
College had a
softball player
honored during the
Big South’s weekly
awards.
Going Deep Sea
Fishing...
The Presbyterian
College softball
team went out
and took down the host Dolphinis of
Jacksonville by a 5-2 score in its first
road game of the season. the Blue
Hose accounted for five runs on six
hits while Leslie Hensley picked up the
first win of her career.
First Time For Everything
The Presbyterian College softball
team squared off against a Big 12
foe for the first time in school history
during the opening weekend, falling
to Iowa State three times. The Blue
Hose lost a heartbreaker to open the
year, 6-5 in eight innings against the
Cyclones.
Rachel’s Return
Junior Rachel Parker returns to
the Blue Hose after what is arguably
one of the most productive seasons
in school history. Parker belted 12
homeruns a season ago, establishing
a school record for round-trippers in
a single season. Parker recorded a
slugging percentage of .685, resulting
in the second best in school history.
Her 23 walks were tied for the third
most in a given year while her .453 on
base percentage ranked fifth.
Twin Killing
Opposing teams have to be wary
of the tandem that head coach Dave
Majeski has. Sophomores Kayla and
Krysten Handy can play a variety of
positions and have been a steady
source of production after arriving in
Clinton, S.C., prior to last season.
Getting To Know Gordon
Fans might be able to recognize
pitcher Mary Gordon - and they
should. Gordon has etched herself into
the upper echelon of PC history. The
junior ranks in the top five of seven
statistical categories and is on pace to
be in the top three on multiple lists by
the end of the regular season.
