2012 HOFSTRA VOLLEYBALL OUTLOOK
Coming off its highest win total in three seasons in 2011, the
Hofstra Volleyball program will look to take another step forward
in 2012. The 2011 squad won 14 matches and fifth-year coach
Kristina Hernandez hopes to better that mark in 2012 and make a return
to the CAA Tournament.

The Pride will feature a strong mix of veteran talent as well as a group of
newcomers that will be expected to contribute immediately.
OUTSIDE HITTER
Sophomore Kelsie Wills (Matamata, New Zealand) returns to anchor an
outside hitter position after earning Colonial Athletic Association All-
Rookie honors in 2011. Wills tallied 354 kills and 338 digs during her
freshman campaign, ranking second in both categories.
Newcomer Jovana Barisic (Belgrade, Serbia), a transfer from the
University of Memphis, will also see significant action at outside hitter.
Barisic, a 6-4 junior, saw limited playing time for the Tigers, but helped
her Serbian club teams to gold medals at several youth championships
before coming to the United States.
Junior Nikki Kinnier (Elkton, MD) should also see time on the outside,
though she will play a bulk of the time at middle blocker. Kinnier, who
has led the team in kills the past two years, posted 366 kills last season to
go along with 221 digs and 53 blocks.
Sophomore Emily Burke (Staten Island, NY) should also be in the mix.
Burke did not see any action for the Pride until the final match of the
year, but responded with 12 kills and just one error in two sets.
RIGHT SIDE HITTER
Sophomore Anna Kitlar (Kiel, Germany), who posted seven kills in
limited action as a freshman, will have the inside track to start on the
right side. Senior Catalina Charry, who will be Hofstra’s primary setter,
also will see some action as a right side hitter in certain personnel
groups. Charry did total 69 kills during the 2011 campaign. Senior Alexa
Borresen (East Meadow, NY) will also push for playing time. Borresen
saw action in one match last season, her first at Hofstra after transferring
from Nassau Community College.
