> Barwon Water has commissioned the Anglesea Borefield. The $55m project, which was<br />

complete in late 2009, will supply an average 7,000m litres <strong>of</strong> drinking water a year, or<br />

20% <strong>of</strong> the region’s current demand.<br />

> Stage Two <strong>of</strong> the Promenade Towers Apartments has been completed. The $40m ninestorey<br />

residential development along Waterfront <strong>Geelong</strong> includes 37 apartments.<br />

> Major refit and repair work has been completed on two major oil rigs the Kan Tan V1<br />

and the Ocean Patriot. The work carried out at the Port <strong>of</strong> <strong>Geelong</strong> is estimated at more<br />

than $40m.<br />

> Construction work has been completed on the $35m 6,000sqm redevelopment <strong>of</strong><br />

Queenscliff Harbour. The new 24-hour facility accommodates 280 wet-berths, 100 dryberths,<br />

30 land storage berths and a retail component.<br />

<strong>Geelong</strong> Technology Precinct, Deakin University<br />

> Work has been completed on the $30m <strong>Geelong</strong> Private Medical Centre adjacent to<br />

the <strong>Geelong</strong> Private Hospital. The five-storey facility by developers Argyle Street Central<br />

includes consulting suites, a pharmacy, a café and a pathology centre.<br />

> Work on the <strong>Geelong</strong> Football Club’s $28m refurbishment <strong>of</strong> Skilled Stadium has been<br />

completed. Redevelopment <strong>of</strong> the Ross Drew Stand has increased capacity at the facility<br />

to 30,000 people.<br />

> Construction <strong>of</strong> Stage One <strong>of</strong> <strong>Geelong</strong>’s new $20m Clinical Teaching Unit in Ryrie Street<br />

has been completed. The Deakin University – Barwon Health initiative provides three<br />

above ground levels for dedicated teaching and research and two levels <strong>of</strong> basement<br />

parking. Completion <strong>of</strong> the facility coincides with the progression <strong>of</strong> third year medical<br />

students undertaking their twelve months with <strong>Geelong</strong> Hospital.<br />

> The Port <strong>of</strong> <strong>Geelong</strong> has <strong>of</strong>ficially opened the $28m extension <strong>of</strong> the Corio Quay North<br />

ship loading facility. The expansion almost doubles the wharf’s length to 675m to<br />

create a dedicated berth for woodchip exports and frees up existing berths for other<br />

cargo such as steel, aluminium ingots, mineral sands and timber products.<br />

> Ford Australia has completed $21m upgrades to its <strong>Geelong</strong> plant for the development<br />

and construction <strong>of</strong> the I6 engine.<br />

> Deakin University has completed its $13m expansion <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Geelong</strong> Technology<br />

Precinct. The new building accommodates a new design, pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> concept and<br />

manufacturing research centre.<br />

> Target Australia has opened its $10m Ocean Grove store.<br />

> <strong>Geelong</strong> Grammar has <strong>of</strong>ficially opened the $9m Dame Elisabeth Murdoch girl’s<br />

boarding house at its Corio Campus. The new facility accommodates 68 students and is<br />

part <strong>of</strong> the school’s ongoing commitment to co-education.<br />

> The $5m Eureka Hotel refurbishment has been completed.<br />

> Work has been completed on the $4.9m redevelopment <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Geelong</strong> Fire Station on<br />

the corner <strong>of</strong> Yarra and McKillop Streets, <strong>Geelong</strong>.<br />

> The Gordon has completed work on its new $3.9m library and bookshop at the East<br />

<strong>Geelong</strong> campus. The facility is part <strong>of</strong> the overall redevelopment <strong>of</strong> the campus.<br />

> Work has been completed on the <strong>Geelong</strong>’s Performing Arts Centre’s $3m upgrade <strong>of</strong><br />

the Ford Theatre.<br />

> Avalon Airport has completed a $2m upgrade to its terminal and kitchen facilities.<br />

> The 16,000sqm <strong>Geelong</strong> Gateway project has been <strong>of</strong>ficially opened. The development<br />

includes 11 retail stores at <strong>Geelong</strong>’s entrance in Corio.<br />
