<strong>Texas</strong> Border Counties Information<br />
Border counties are based on Article 4 <strong>of</strong> the La Paz<br />
Agreement between the United <strong>State</strong>s and<br />
Mexico (1983).<br />
• Border counties are not just those fourteen that<br />
are contiguous to Mexico, but 32 counties in the<br />
South <strong>Texas</strong> and West <strong>Texas</strong> Regions with at<br />
least part <strong>of</strong> the county located within 100 km <strong>of</strong><br />
the international border.
