Your Vehicle
Starting Your Vehicle
The diesel engine starts differently than a gasoline engine.
{CAUTION:
Notice: If you will not be using your vehicle for
a period of 48 hours or more, you will need to
disconnect battery power from the vehicle to
prevent the batteries from discharging. Continued
discharging could damage the batteries. When
this switch is in the OFF position the main battery
feeds to the starter and NATO jump start connector
remain powered.
Pickup and Maintenance Body
Do not use gasoline or starting aids, such as
ether, in the air intake. They could damage
your engine. There could also be a fire, which
could cause serious personal injury.
Manual Supplement, located in the glove compartment.
Vehicle Load Disconnect Switch
The vehicle may have this feature, a load disconnect
switch. The switch disconnects 12-volt vehicle loads
and 24-volt trailer/aux loads that could cause a parasitic
drain on the batteries.
The load disconnect switch (A) is located on the
underhood fuse block. The underhood fuse block is
located on the driver’s side of the vehicle, to the rear
of the 24-volt battery.
The switch should be in the OFF position any time the
expected vehicle storage time is to exceed 48 hours.
