“Very well.” Derne put out his hand and Ethan<br />

gripped it.<br />

“Good night, Mister Derne.”<br />

Ethan started away, aware that Derne was staring<br />

after him. He kept his gaze fixed on the street ahead of<br />

him, however, and after a short while the feeling of<br />

being watched faded.<br />
