Sulky Santa – Script 35
SCENE NINE:
BOY’S BEDROOM
(Santa enters to centre stage, turns, and proceeds to take presents out of his sack
and lay them on the floor. Unbeknown to Santa, the Boy enters, spots Santa and
turns to the audience, putting his finger to his lips in a hush gesture. He creeps up to
Santa and…)
BOY:
(Shouting) Boo!
(Santa gets a terrible fright and jumps up to face the boy.)
BOY:
SANTA:
BOY:
You’re not Santa Claus – It’s you Dad!
I’m Santa Claus.
No you’re not. Let me take that fake beard off!
(The Boy tugs Santa’s beard and they tug back and forth for a few seconds.)
BOY:
SANTA:
BOY:
BOY:
SANTA:
You’re not my dad. That is your beard! Who are you?
I’ll give you a clue. I’ve got a red suit covered in soot, I’ve had a bit
of difficulty getting down your chimney and I’ve left you some
wonderful presents.
You really are Santa Claus?
(To the audience) He really is Santa Claus!
And you’re the boy who didn’t believe. Well, I’ll give you something
to believe in. Meet Rudolph.
(Rudolph enters singing ‘Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’.)
SANTA:
BOY:
SANTA:
He’s going to take us back to the North Pole. I’ve delivered all of my
presents so now I’d like you to meet some of my friends.
I don’t believe this is happening.
After this little trip you’ll never say you don’t believe again!
(The curtains close.)
NARRATOR 1:
NARRATOR 2:
NARRATOR 3:
The boy was whisked back to the North Pole.
Where he met all the people who didn’t believe in him.
Santa’s enthusiasm for Christmas had been fully restored.
(The curtains re-open.)
