LAFASHION
A magazine is never the product of one person or company. Like a movie, there are so many people involved in the creation that we hardly have a moment to thank them. Our small staff is comprised of a dedicated, talented crew of people who work long hours out of a sheer passion for the world of fashion and magazines. I’d like you to get to know them.

This month, Barney’s
will team with the
Jay Z collection and
offer an edition of
Rock Star Chic: The Dark Side
of High Fashion with a limited
250 numbered copies. The book
is a visual journey of over 300
photographs with fashion’s most
cutting-edge photographers, designers
and stylists exposing the
“ominously beautiful obsession
with the bad boy aesthetic and
reveals what draws us into the
darkness, providing a daring
testament to the love affair with
the gloomy, sultry side of Rock
‘N Roll.”
To better understand the
concept we aked editor Patrice
Farameh to explain:
What is the concept behind the book?
The book explores the dark side of
high fashion with visual imagery
provided by photographers, stylists
and designers who embody this aes-
thetic in their work. This fashion phenomenon
has usually been attributed to the modern-day
“rock star” style - the performance acts of rebellion
set to music.
Rock Star Chic has many meanings, organized
by its 5 chapters: Tribal nomads to portray
the modern-day bohemian gypsy, feathers and
fringes, leather and python. Sometimes the
symbols elude to death, but again mainly as a
symbol of rebellion, such as the use of skulls
and the color black, in the chapter Dark Angels.
Some of the fashion is inspired by the new
“gothic glamour” revival, or the current obsession
with the dark underworld and vampires,
