campus resources
Students at Harding University are encouraged to look for ways to serve others. At the same time,
students will encounter the many services the University strives to provide to them.
Some of these services include the following:
student center
The Hammon Student Center is the hub of Harding University. In this building you will find a
variety of services: a U.S. Post Office and campus mail room; a food court featuring Chick-fil-A,
Burger Studio and Jump Asian Express; and a student lounge area for meeting friends and just “hanging
out” by the big-screen TV or around the fireplace, where you can enjoy Java City Coffee, Bison
Bistro 1924 and Taco Bell. Also in the Student Center are the Harding University Bookstore (HUB);
and yearbook offices; public telephones; and bulletin boards where notices are posted about various
campus activities.
academic advising
The mission of Academic Advising is to provide a supportive and collaborative environment that
enhances student development and provides assistance for pursuing academic and career goals.
Academic Advising also makes referrals to other offices on campus as appropriate, including Career
Services, Counseling Center, Academic Resource Services, Financial Aid Services and all academic
departments. Academic Advising coordinates advising programs for students who are General Studies
majors and for students who have not yet declared a major.
Academic Advising coordinates an “Early Alert!” system — designed to identify students who are
experiencing academic challenges early in the semester — and then offers the necessary support and
referrals to help students get back on track. In addition, Academic Advising works closely with some
students who are on academic probation and/or financial aid suspension, in most cases implementing
an action plan aimed at helping students regain acceptable academic standing.
Academic Advising may be contacted by calling 501-279-4531, or by email at advisingctr@harding.edu.
