In every issue of Spray we like to recognize a
Grand Banks employee who makes a valuable
and positive contribution to the team. The most
difficult task of all is narrowing our selection to
a single person.
We are proud to announce the hiring of
Phil Lin as Plant Director of our Malaysian
Operations. Mr. Lin previously worked for
the company from 1977 to 1994 at its facility
in Singapore, where he ultimately rose to the
position of Plant Director.
“Phil played an instrumental role in the
establishment of our new facility in Malaysia
back in 1993,” said Grand Banks Chairman
and CEO Bob Livingston. “Today the
majority of Grand Banks yachts are built at
that plant, and we’re very pleased to have him
back with the company for this challenging
position.”
Phil started at Grand Banks as a Design
Engineer. In 1981 he became a Production
Manager, and was named Plant Director
for Singapore in 1984. Ten years later,
Phil departed to launch his own company,
growing the business into a successful boat
brokerage and repair firm. He was later picked
as Production Manager by Kristen Yachts,
a manufacturer of custom steel-hulled sail
and power boats located in Victoria, British
Columbia.
In his new position at Grand Banks, Phil will
be responsible for the overall operations of the
Malaysian factory, including production and
quality control. He will also join the Senior
Management and Product Development
Committees, bringing his vision and
experience to the company’s renowned boatbuilding
team. In addition, Phil is an avid
yachtsman who has voyaged over 6,000
nautical miles throughout the waters of
Southeast Asia.
Phil replaces Bruce Livingston in the position
of Plant Director, who is leaving Grand
Banks after nearly ten years to return with
his family to a new boat-building venture in
Taiwan.
“Bruce has played an important role in Grand
Banks, and we wish him all the best,” said Bob
Livingston. “Phil brings proven skills and
Grand Banks experience to his new role with
the company, so operations will continue to
move swiftly forward. People here remember
Phil for his outstanding contributions, and
the team in Malaysia is very excited to have
him on board.”

GRAND TOUR 2006: INSIDE PASSAGE
Celebrate Grand Banksʼ 50th Anniversary with a voyage through one of the worldʼs most celebrated cruising regions.
Many people consider Grand Banks to be the ultimate
cruising yachts. Now weʼre bringing you the ultimate cruising
experience, through one of the worldʼs most treasured and
spectacular cruising grounds.
As part of our 50 th Anniversary celebration, “Grand Tour
2006: Inside Passage” will give a lucky group of Grand
Banks owners the opportunity to journey together on an
organized cruise from Canadaʼs Gulf Islands to Southeastern
Alaska. Best of all, we handle most of the planning and
logistics, leaving you free to focus on enjoying the voyage
of a lifetime.
Nowhere in North America are there so many wonderfully
robust and civilized adventures to be had. Get a taste of
the coastal adventure, channel after stunning channel, mile
after dazzling mile, each point or cape revealing yet another
astonishing view. Scenic and historic side trips include visits
to Coastal Tribes villages, plus a chance to feast on crab and
salmon caught along the way. Tuck into coves and harbors
too intimate for the big cruise ships, and come away with a
deeper enjoyment of the area than most will ever know.
Following the three-week cruise north, you may opt to spend
the summer on your own in Alaska, or motor southbound with
the GB group on an abbreviated return trip back to the Puget
Sound area in Washington.
Planning for this event is now underway, currently scheduled
to begin in mid-May, 2006. The anticipated fee to participate
is approximately $5000 per boat, plus $1500 per person
for additional guests joining each boat. While this fee does
not include all moorage fees, fuel, food, and other personal
costs, it does cover numerous events, activities, festivities, and
special amenities that will make this trip an extraordinary,
once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In addition, several Grand Banks yachts will be available for
charter out of the Pacific Northwest, giving GB owners from
around the world a chance to participate in the journey.
Unfortunately, space on the Tour is limited to approximately
20-25 yachts, so now is the time to indicate your level of

in joining along with this tour you will receive updates on
schedules, costs, deposit amounts, and the requirements to be
considered for this great event.
