Annual General Meeting Minutes
For
Hampton Junior Soccer Club.
Held on Tuesday 16 th October 2007, 7:30pm
At HJSC Clubrooms, Fewster Road, Hampton,
a) JW announced the nominations for the 2008 Committee. All committee position
nominations were elected unopposed aside for the position of Vice President
where two nominations were received.
b) JW outlined the process of registering children for HJSC at the beginning of the
year by the committee. The registration form was amended to reflect that the
children as members had to have a nominated adult (parent or guardian) for voting
purposes as they are not the legal age to vote.
c) Of the 415 children registered some parents / guardians did not fully complete the
forms and were therefore ineligible to vote on any motions or proxies for
nominations to committee positions put to the members.
d) The proxy forms created by and agreed unanimously in content by the 2007
committee resolved to pass a proxy vote for use in voting for committee members
and requesting a vote for or against the motion on the proxy form (Change to
Logo Motion).
e) Under the prescribed format a total of 137 proxies had been received of which
only 73 were valid. It was raised by an attending member (Ian Spence) that the
process was not terribly efficient if so many proxies had been cancelled due to
issues of validity. It was suggested that all proxies that had been cast should be
included as the intent was not lost (regardless of which parent had signed their
child’s original registration form and thus who cast the vote).
f) All of the people in attendance then agreed that every proxy should be able to be
counted for the benefit of the vote for the position being contested (Vice
President) and for the motion dealing with the proposed change in club logo.
g) All parties agreed except for Vince Princi who requested he be allowed a minute
to address the meeting. The meeting agreed this request to be met.
h) Mr Princi advised that he believed the process being undertaken was not
constitutional, that he had founded the club and that he was being forced out.
i) The President responded that Mr Princi had been part of the 2006/07 process as
Vice President which had put the existing process into place, that a community
club was about all of its members and that many other people had also contributed
extensive time and resources to bring the club to where it was today. The
committee had several times offered to recognise VP’s contribution via honour
boards, website acknowledgement and to refund the original investment made by
him but that it had all been rejected.
j) VP advised he would be referring his concerns to Consumer Affairs Victoria and
at that point departed the meeting (before any vote was taken).
k) A vote was then taken for the position of Vice President for the 2007/08 HJSC
Committee – Cameron Gregson received 95 votes (including 87 proxies), Vince
Princi received 9 votes (including 5 proxies) – of the original 50 proxies
supporting Vince Princi, 48 were for him to lodge. As he had departed the
meeting prior to the vote these were no longer valid. It was then passed that
Cameron Gregson would be the Vice President in the 2007/08 year.
l) The motion proposed by Vince Princi to amend the club logo was defeated (95
votes against, 2 votes supporting).
