WIMA GTO MKP<br />

WIMA GTO MKP capacitors are especially<br />

designed to attenuate voltage spikes<br />

on GTO (Gate-Turn-Off) Thyristors and<br />

IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor).<br />

They are manufactured in dry-type technology<br />

with double-sided metallized electrodes<br />

and encapsulated in a cylindrical<br />

plastic case sealed with self-extinguishing<br />

polyurethane resin.<br />

Their construction principle combined with<br />

the Polypropylene dielectric used creates<br />

outstanding features, e.g.:<br />

n Very low self-inductance<br />

n High pulse reliability<br />

n High rms current carrying capability<br />

n Very low dissipation factor<br />

n Negative capacitance change versus<br />

temperature<br />

n Excellent self-healing properties<br />

n Outstanding mechanical stability<br />

n High shock and vibration resistance<br />

n Solvent-resistant, flame-retardant plastic<br />

case in accordance with UL 94 V-0<br />

n Almost unlimited life expectancy<br />

Fields of applications are designs where<br />

high current and voltage carrying<br />

capabilities are required, e.g. converter<br />

equipment in power generation or in<br />

traction technology <strong>for</strong> train drives, hoists,<br />

crane drives etc.<br />

WIMA GTO MKP capacitors are available<br />

with capacitances from 1.0 mF through<br />

100 mF and with nominal voltages from<br />

400 VDC through 2000 VDC. For mounting<br />

purposes M6 and M8 threaded terminations<br />

are possible. Customer-specific<br />

requirements can be realized on demand.<br />

All components are environmentally<br />

compatible with the RoHS 2011/65/EC<br />

regulations of the European Union.<br />
