THROUGH VIRTUALIZATION<br />

<strong>IDRBT</strong> is looking out <strong>for</strong> a solution involving a high end server with virtualization<br />

features to manage a few of its applications like domain controller, additional<br />

domain controller, R & D servers – (MATLAB and Rational Rose), Library<br />

Management, Internet access and patch management servers.<br />

The solution would involve server virtualization with high availability features (in<br />

cluster mode), latest OS and applications with hardware with the following<br />

options:<br />

1. A. Server: -<br />

Option –I 4U Rack Mount Solution 2*Quad Core >2.4Ghz Processor, RAM 32GB<br />

(8GB*4) DDR3 Expandable to 128GB, GB SAS300GB@15K *3 Server should<br />

support Minimum of 5/6 SAS Drives with RAID Support 0,1,3,5,10, DVD Rom, RPS<br />

and Dual Gigabit Fault Tolerant NIC’s, 4Gbps FC Dual Connectivity to connect SAN<br />

Storage <strong>Servers</strong> with High Availability – 2No’s<br />

Option –II Blade <strong>Servers</strong> Solution with Enclosure Should support up to 5/6 Blade<br />

The summary of the work involved and the responsibilities of the vendor are as<br />

detailed below.<br />

1. Vendor has to supply and Install all the necessary hardware, software and<br />

other related tools/software at <strong>IDRBT</strong>, which comprise the complete solution<br />

as per the requirements specified.<br />

2. Vendor has to deploy qualified personnel at <strong>IDRBT</strong> to install all required<br />

services and applications.<br />

3. Develop a process <strong>for</strong> addition/Deletion of an application/server to the<br />

virtualized solution.<br />

4. Vendor has to define different administrative roles in the management<br />

console with different administrative rights.<br />

5. Vendor shall record all major / minor incidents, which ensure to take decision<br />

on capacity planning, network planning and per<strong>for</strong>mance enhancement.<br />

6. Vendor should conduct periodic security and network reviews during the 3-<br />

year warranty period and ensure all patches/upgrades/latest IOS are applied<br />

as and when OEM releases them.<br />

7. The solution offered must work, install, deploy and operate:-<br />

• On industry standard server hardware in multiple CPU socket<br />

configurations<br />

• With industry standard Network Attached Storage and Ethernet<br />

Adaptor<br />

• With the operating systems released by the software manufacturer


8. The Solution offered must work, install, deploy and operate on open industry<br />

standards in respect of hardware/ software and belated equipments/ tools.<br />

9. The solution offered must deliver, enable and support the functionality<br />

The vendors in response to the present tender may submit their bids in two<br />

parts, the Technical Bid and the Commercial Bid. The Technical Bid shall be as per<br />

Vendors are requested to submit a “softcopy” version of their Technical and<br />

Commercial responses on CD/USB Pen drive in Microsoft Office 2000 <strong>for</strong>mat,<br />

[Word 2000]. Soft-copies are to be sealed within the respective Technical and<br />

Commercial Bid envelopes.

a) Format of Product specification (Technical Bid): -<br />

The technical bid should also include the product literature, manual and a short<br />

description of the product proposed to be supplied. In case, the product as<br />

specified in the BOM is end of life or not being manufactured by the OEM, the<br />

vendor is required to provide sufficient proof of such claim and is allowed to<br />

quote <strong>for</strong> an alternate product with such similar working capability.<br />

The Commercial Bid should contain the following:<br />

The vendors are required to submit a copy of the Technical Bid highlighting the<br />

features to be supplied along with the Commercial Bid.<br />

Any item, which the vendor feels is required, the prices <strong>for</strong> the item should be<br />

mentioned in the commercial bid and the details of it should be mentioned<br />

compulsorily in the technical bid along with the required quantity<br />

Note: Taxes if any should be explicitly stated in the Commercial Bid<br />

The bill of material containing item-wise details in respect of server consolidation<br />

<strong>through</strong> virtualization <strong>for</strong> <strong>IDRBT</strong> offered by the vendor, must be furnished along<br />

with the prices thereof, as per the terms and conditions contained in this<br />

document. The Vendor will undertake to ensure that the prices are reasonable<br />

and in the range of prices <strong>for</strong> similar / same services available in the market. If any<br />

irregularity is detected anytime in respect of the above, the Institute will have the<br />

right to take appropriate action against the Vendor, as deemed fit by the Institute.<br />

Other Conditions:<br />

The PO will contain various terms and conditions relating to payment, delivery,<br />

installation & operationalisation, training, commissioning & acceptance, support<br />

during period of maintenance, penalty due to delay in per<strong>for</strong>mance , per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

guarantee, liquidated damages etc. However, the terms and conditions are not<br />

conclusive and <strong>IDRBT</strong> reserves the right to add, delete, modify or alter all or any


of these terms and conditions in any manner, as deemed necessary by the<br />

Organization.<br />

The vendor shall be responsible <strong>for</strong> delivery of the goods as per the bill of<br />

material of the purchase order at specified location within 3-5 weeks from the<br />

date of the purchase order.<br />

All the specifications and other related literature & in<strong>for</strong>mation, provided by the<br />

Service Provider agreed by the Institute, would also <strong>for</strong>m a part of the PO.<br />

<strong>IDRBT</strong> reserves the right to modify/amend/cancel the tender and its conditions.<br />

<strong>IDRBT</strong> reserves the right to accept/reject in full or in part the bids received from<br />

the eligible vendors.<br />
